The party (never) ended · 4:29pm Oct 12th, 2019
Welp. Here we are. Nine years and nine seasons later, FiM has finally drawn the curtains. It's over. But I don't think that means we're over. Y'know, as in, "we're gonna keep this party going until the last man finally dies."
Will Gen 5 be as good? Maybe. Will it have as much impact as Friendship is Magic did? Doubt it. They'd need to pull out all the stops to make it as memorable as possible, and coming off FiM's coattails, that's a tall order to fill.
But I'm looking forward to it.
I dropped out of the fandom for six years to get on with my life; I thought my brony phase was over. But as Douglas McArthur said (or maybe it was Bungie, I don't know), "Spartans never die, they just go missing in action." And I got back just in time to watch the lights fade.
Yeah, I'm sad. Like, I'm real fucking sad. FiM is the sole reason I made it through high school, and now there's no more official content for it. A chapter in my life, and the online world, is over. This message won't reach many people, but for the ones that do hear it: here's to you, and here's to me. I fell into the hole in mid-2013. I don't know when you, dear reader, joined us, but I think I'll be here for a long time to come. I hope you'll be there with me.
Cheers. Here's to the next chapter.
