Lest we Forget... · 6:18am Sep 11th, 2019

Today, 18 years ago, terrorists flew hijacked planes into the Twin Towers in New York, and the Pentagon. A fourth was going to be crashed into the White House, but the passengers overpowered their hijackers and the plane crashed into a field. I don't need to explain what happened in the case of the succesful attacks.

This is the Seconds from Disaster documentary on the incident. (Note: I have been having issues with the sound on this video.)

This episode focuses exclusively on the Pentagon attack.

The attacks were a direct catalyst for the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, the Iraq War of 2003-present, and the United States has remained in a state of National Emergency ever since.

Today, the original site of 1 and 2 WTC is a memorial, with the cooling ducts of the towers forming a memorial to those who died. There is also a museum nearby which explains the events of the day, as well as displaying artifacts from the incident.

More than 3,000 people perished that day, and the effects of 9/11 are still being felt to this day.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
And at the going down of the sun,
and in the morning,
We Will Remember Them.

the past is the rudder that steers the ship of the present into the winds of the future.but if the past harms the present, then should we still cling onto the past?

We will never forget, my high school did a moment of silence.....not sure if they still do.
Have not walked the hallway in years, visiting on occasion but not on 9/11.

My family always marks a minute's silence at the time the South Tower collapsed.

I understand where you are coming from, but if we forget that day, we are doing the victims a disservice.

you right ,thank you

I was born on 2002, but even I know how much the 9/11 situation put a toll on everyone. Loved ones, family members and people alike have lost their lives on this day from the plane hijackers. All I can say though, of course, we’ll remember this day to remember the victims lost to this day.

Yes, we shall. Never again.

I'll give it a look.
