Hello everyone. Today we'll be talking about Mercury Shine a darker story than most here. As always, I'll be telling you how this particular story came to be.
First off, I'd like to give a big thanks to both Jaker, who gave me permission to write about Mercury Shine, and Exuno, who gave me permission to write about Distraction. These two are also the reason this story idea went anywhere in the first place, so big ups to the two of them.
This is the first flat out rape fic I've ever written with no caveats. I'd heard about Mercury Shine and her tendency to get raped a long time ago, but never really got into it. Sometime later, I saw the picture Arnachy drew and thought that she looked drunk. I went on from that to eventually come up with the idea, "What if Mercury gets super sexually aggressive when she's drunk?". I ran the idea past Jaker, who said he'd really like to read it, and the idea was put to paper.
Along the way, while thinking of who could be the perpetrator, Exuno told me he had an OC who'd be perfect for the job. He told me about Distraction, a scrawny bat pony who's favorite word is faggot, and can't help but think he's destined for greatness, though he never wants to put the work in. I really liked this idea and went with him.
The story was originally going to be darker, but I thought that I should write a rape story that even people not into rape fantasies all that much could read it. It's still dark, yes, but I hope that I somewhat broadened the audience that would want to read the story. Even so, I am proud of myself for actually finishing something I wrote for someone else in a decent amount of time (Like a month, I think).
Speaking of, the next thing I write will be something I thought up on a whim while rereading A Cell For Two. I started to think about what I wanted to be two years ago versus what I am today. I am still glad I write what I do now, but I want to try my hand at a more lore-heavy character-focused piece. Hopefully, that'll come out soon.
