What’s Next: Shipping, and maybe some Shipping? · 5:23am Aug 20th, 2019
Ok, well, not precisely. Since I have been writing a lot lately I can say this though: What’s coming next? Something Pony!
More precisely I’m working on a anthology of Equestria Girls stories, all fairly short. There are three of them so far in the pipeline at various points of completion (one is out for editing, the second half written, the third I haven’t yet touched). I might add more later since I’m basically trying to write EQG shorts and they aren’t really connected except by a loose theme. The first story is about Dash & Sunset learning a lesson one Saturday morning about friendship, toy collecting, and when not to peek! The second is the shipping one of the bunch, focusing on Dash and Fluttershy having a Friday night out without the rest of the girls. Together, they learn a bit about one another and how they like to spend their Friday nights when the rest of the Mane 7 aren’t around. Also, are awkwardly cute and cutely awkward. Finally, a story wherein Sunset heads to the park one Sunday to meet a Twilight (she’s not really clear on the specifics, and text is a limited form of communication)... and can’t find her! Only Pinky, painting a landscape for art class, but that’s probably not important. I’m sure you noticed the weekend theme... still mulling whether “Weekend Wondercolts” or “Wondercolt Weekends” is a better super-title for the anthology. Thoughts?
That not enough shipping? Well, you’re in luck! I’m also working on a experimental piece (no promises it’ll bear fruit, mind you) that’s an epistolary and is based around the idea of chronicling a ship in the Equestrian Navy and its voyage to the Hippogriff Kingdom, to escort their new navy (all one, repaired, ship of it) home. I’m at the really early stages with this one and just trying to flesh things out with regards to characters, ships, events ect ect. But expect lots of details about age-of-sail frigates, for certain. And jokes only history nerds get. Oh, and G1 references! Thoughts on “Wavedancer” as a frigate name?
More EQG is always good. :D I'm not sure on which title is better, as both sound good and both suggest something different.
I rather like 'Wondercolt Weekends'. Wavedancer sounds great for the name of a ship, too.

Out of interest, what would you say both titles suggest? Knowing what they convey to readers will help me make a decision on the overall title.

It's a difference between "Here's what the Wondercolts do on their weekends" versus "On the weekends, we do Wondercolt things." Though the difference is so subtle, the more I think about it, the less I'm sure which is which.
I agree "Wondercolt Weekends" sounds better, at least.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm definitely going more for the "What do Wondercolts do on the weekend?" thing... that might even be in the tagline.
