MLP Villains as D&D characters. · 5:06am Aug 6th, 2019
Here it is, round 3, featuring all the major villains from MLP:FiM. No antagonists, since that's insane. They've gotta be major threats in the season premiers and/or finales. Also, I didn't include Sunset Shimmer, simply because... well... I'm not a fan of the Equestria Girls series, and I don't really think it's cannon, even if the Sirens did appear in the Season 7 finale. Also, I didn't do the Pony of Shadows, simply because the POS is more like Venom, and doing something cannon for him is impossible. But I hope you enjoy these versions of MLP villains
Nightmare Moon
Race: Dark Elf
Class: Warlock (Fiend) (Tome Boon)
Abilities:
Strength: 8
Dexterity: 12 (+2 from race)
Constitution: 12
Intelligence: 14
Wisdom: 15
Charisma: 14 (+1 from race)
Background: Noble
PT: No one could doubt by looking at my regal bearing that I am a cut above the unwashed masses./If you do me an injury, I will crush you, ruin your name, and salt your fields.
I: Power: If I can attain more power, no one will tell me what to do. (Evil)
B: The common folk must see me as a hero of the people.
F: In fact, the world does revolve around me.
Skills: Arcana, Perception, History, Deception, Intimidation, Persuasion.
I chose Nightmare Moon as a dark elf because Dark elves hate the sun, and Luna, in this version, is a moon elf, just one step closer to becoming a dark elf herself. I kinda used the comics here, where Luna made a deal with some moon beasts to become Nightmare Moon, so a warlock made sense. The boon also works, since Nightmare Moons isn't the type of gal to use weapons, but stay away and use her magic to battle enemies from a distance.
Discord:
Race: Animal Hybrid (Gliding)
Class: Sorcerer/Wizard (Chaos/Conjuration)
Abilities:
Strength: 8
Dexterity: 12 (+2 from race)
Constitution: 12
Intelligence: 14
Wisdom: 15
Charisma: 14 (+1 from race)
Background: Haunted one
PT :I don't talk about the thing that torments me. I'd rather not burden others with my curse./I put no trust in divine beings.
I:I'm a monster that destroys other monsters and anything else that gets in my way. (Evil)
B: My torment drove away the person I love. I strive to win back the love I've lost.
F: I talk to spirits that no one else can see
Skills: Arcana, Investigation, Deception, Persuasion.
This is probably one of the few cases I'm gonna do multi-class, but in this case, Discord works well being a sorcerer born from wild magic, and as a wizard that studied in the school of Conjuration, he can summon practically anything, a reoccurring thing we see him do. In this version, Discord was some creature made a long time ago that went a bit insane, and started to cause a lot of chaos around him with his uncontrollable magic that only he used later on. A bit more on the tragic side, but it works in my book.
Queen Chrysalis:
Race: Changeling
Class: Rogue (Arcane Trickster)
Abilities:
Strength: 10
Dexterity: 13
Constitution: 8
Intelligence 15: (+1 from race)
Wisdom: 12
Charisma: 17 (+2 from race)
Background: Spy (Evidence of intrigue.)
PT: I change my attitude and personality to blend in with the people around me./I have trouble trusting people, especially those closest to me.
I: Self: The information is good, coming out alive better, the coin I'll get from this, totally worth it. (Neutral)
B: A servant in a castle saw me spying on her lord. I fled and hope I will never have to see her face again.
F: I never forget an insult, and I bide my time for revenge.
Skills: Athletics, Acrobatics, Sleight of Hand, Stealth, Insight, Deception (Ex), Performance, Persuasion (Ex)
Yes, Changelings are an actual race in D&D, so there was no need to change her race, just know D&D changelings aren't insectoid beings, but are actually the result of a human and doppelganger making a baby. And while she isn't a queen here, she can be a spy to a sort of underground place where other changelings live, using their shape shifting abilities to survive and bring back food for their sick, young, and elderly.
King Sombra:
Race: Tiefling (Zari)
Class: Paladin (Conquest)
Abilities:
Strength: 15 (+1 from race)
Dexterity: 13
Constitutuion: 15
Intelligence: 8
Wisdom: 10
Charisma: 14 (+2 from race)
Background: Inheritor
PT: You believe you are the chosen one and that your newfound powers mean you have a great destiny.
I: You have a great destiny ahead of you, better go out there and find it. (Any)
B: You are searching for someone who disappeared when you were young.
F: You feel untouchable, overestimating your abilities and getting yourself into trouble.
Skills: Arcana, Religion, Survival, Intimidation
Another inspiration I took from the comics, where Sombra was a colt who later found out he was something else. In this case, he was probably a child that learned how he had Tiefling blood in him, and after being mocked, embraced his demonic heritage. A paladin works since Sombra is in armor, especially following the Oath of Conquest, taking over the Crystal Empire all to himself.
Lord tirek
Race: Centaur
Class: Warlock/Barbarian (Fiend/Berserker) [Tome Boon]
Abilities:
Strength: 16 (+2 from race)
Dexterity: 8
Constitution: 15
Intelligence: 12
Wisdom: 11 (+1 from race)
Charisma: 13
Background: Far Traveler (Fugitive)
PT: I have myself my own ideas on what is and what is not food, i find the habits of eating of those around me fascinating, confusing, or revolting.
I: Cunning. Though I may not know their ways, neither do they know mine, which can be to my advantage. (Evil)
B: My freedom is my most precious possession. I'll never let anyone take it from me again.
F: I have a weakness for the new intoxicants and other pleasures of this land.
Skills:Arcana, Nature, Insight, Perception, Intimidation
Alright! I broke the rules here! I had to make Tirek a Level 3 character in both his Warlock and Barbarian classes, meaning he's actually level 6 here. But let's be honest, at his full strength, Tirek could've been like a true D&D boss fight. Like Chrysalis being a changeling, Tirek is a Centaur, and Centaurs are canon in D&D, but to keep his magic abilities, a warlock works well here. I mean, yeah, he didn't serve a diety before, but we can say Grogar is like one now his master, and if we're being honest here, with the fiend warlock archetype, every enemy defeated heals him, so this is his way of devouring magic to make himself stronger. I'm doing everything I can people!
Starlight Glimmer
Race: Human (Variant) [Spell Sniper perk]
Class: Wizard (School of Enchantment)
Abilities:
Strength: 8
Dexterity: 12
Constitution: 10
Intelligence: 16 (+1 from race)
Wisdom: 15 (+1 from race)
Charisma: 13
Background: Cloistered Scholar
PT: I am horribly, horribly awkward in social situations/I'm convinced that people are always trying to steal my secrets.
I: No Limits. Nothing should fetter the infinite possibility inherent in all existence. (Chaotic)
B: I've been searching my whole life for the answer to a certain question.
F: Most people scream and run when they see a demon. I stop and take notes on its anatomy.
Skills: Arcana, History, Investigation, Religion, Medicine
Starlight Glimmer... yeah, she was pretty easy. The school of Enchantment for a wizard worked well, since she did convince an entire village to follow her lead, as well as be equal. And though Evocation works as well, Enchantment is more of her thing. I mean, come on, she brainwashed the rest of the mane 6 while Twilight was away.
Storm King
Race: Hobgoblin
Class: Sorcerer (Storm)
Abilities:
Strength: 14
Dexterity: 15
Constitution: 12 (+2 from race)
Intelligence: 9 (+1 from race)
Wisdom: 12
Charisma: 13
Background: Waterdhavian Noble
PT: I don't like to get my hands dirty, and I won't be caught dead in unsuitable accommodations/My favor, once lost, is lost forever.
I: Power. If I can attain more power, no one will tell me what to do. (Evil)
B: The common folk must see me as a hero of the people.
F: In fact, the world does revolve around me
If there was a Satyr, then that would be easy, but since I'm not doing Homebrew stuff, a Hobgoblin works here, since they are a war mongering race. Of course, following the movie, the Storm King is pretty strong, but he's a complete idiot, so that's easy. Being a storm sorcerer also made sense, since... well, he's called the Storm King. It's in the title.
Tempest Shadow
Race: Human (Variant.) [Mobile perk]
Class: Cleric (Tempest Domain)
Abilites:
Strength: 14
Dexterity: 16 (+! from race)
Constitution: 8
Intelligence: 12
Wisdom: 14 (+1 from race)
Charisma: 10
Background: Soldier (Officer)
PT: I can stare down a hell hound without flinching/I have lost too many friends and i am slow to make a new one.
I: Might. In life as in war, the stronger force wins. (Evil)
B: My honor is my life.
F: I obey the law, even if the law causes misery.
Skills: Athletics, Acrobatics, Religion, Insight, Intimidation
Probably the better of the 2 movie villains, since Tempest has more of a character to her, and this was probably the easiest choice for her. True, Clerics gain their powers from a god, but for all we know, the Storm King took her in as a young child and raised her to be the soldier she is, so that's why I made her a Cleric that follows the Tempest Domain. And if you don't know what the Tempest Domain is, it's basically like the storm sorcerer our Storm King is, but more focused.
Cozy Glow
Race: Lightfoot Halfling
Class: Rogue (Mastermind)
Abilities:
Strength: 8
Dexterity: 16 (+1 from race)
Constitution: 10
Intelligence: 12
Wisdom: 13
Charisma: 16 (+2 from race)
Background: Student of Magic
PT: When exposed to some new piece of magic, I can’t help but try to figure out what it does and how it works/My Master taught me the value of secrets, I keep them very well and have a few of my own.
I: Power Through my Power, I will conquer and gain victory (Evil)
B: I idolize a historical magic user, and measure my accomplishments against theirs.
F: People who are superstitious about Magic are idiots, and not worth my time.
Skills: Stealth, Arcana, History, Deception (Ex), Performance, Persuasion (Ex)
Cozy glow was also a no brainer for me. She's small, is great with others, and no one would suspect a child, or here, a halfling, to be evil. A rogue also worked, since we've seen her be sneaky, and her following the Mastermind archetype works, since she's all about planning and getting everyone to do her bidding. You can say her being a Student of magic is just a student at the school of friendship, a simple change of words.
Grogar:
Race: Gray Dwarf
Class: Wizard (Evocation)
Abilities
Strength: 13 (+1 from race)
Dexterity: 8
Constitution: 12 (+2 from race)
Intelligence: 15
Wisdom: 14
Charisma: 13
Background: Criminal (Hired Killer)
PT: I always have a plan for what to do when things go wrong/I blow up at the slightest insult.
I: Freedom: Chains are meant to be broken, as are those who would forge them. (Chaotic)
B: Something important was taken from me, and I aim to steal it back.
F: When I see something valuable, I can’t think about anything but how to steal it.
Skills: Stealth, Arcana, History, Deception
Last, but not least, we have Grogar. I chose Grogar to be a dwarf, simply because he's already old and grumpy a lot, but the criminal background also worked because he was banished, and had his bell stolen, so he wants it back. The wizard class also works, since he's shown to be quite powerful with his magic, and Evocation works because he's THAT powerful with magic. Of course, while he is slow, slow just means he's more steady, and he'll be ready to kick your ass with his powerful magic that'll burn you.
