Concerning this influx of messages I keep getting... · 8:36pm Jul 21st, 2019
This is the only attention I'm giving this, unless someone can give some insight.
I don't know if it's spam from a bot or someone who's a bit unhinged. I'm thinking the former.
Initially I got a message from an apparent MLP fan asking me what I thought of certain characters and themes, and I responded because I thought it was just some random dude having fun. No worries. I asked him who he was and he could just say he used to follow me on Youtube. A bit later I'm asked me for my Discord and that's not something I just give out, plus something felt off about the whole thing at about that point. I had to go to work and I'm having family, so I kinda put it out of my mind and got on with life.
When I came back home I found I was flooded with messages that Fimfiction's mods were kind enough to obliterate when I reported two accounts who were contacting me -- the initial messages sounded very angry and were saying the person messaging me had slighted me and I was blocking him out, not giving himself a chance to explain himself, then repeating same phrase over and over. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought. It was a very obvious attempt manipulation to get a dialogue going, and I don't know this person, so I figure it's something strange and just move on. Plus I had yet to block anything. These accounts had just been made that day or the day before. Something was screwy ^^
Through Fimfiction's Discord this person/bot found my Discord and started hounding me with the same stuff. Same deal -- BLOCK.
My guess is it's a Bot, if anyone can comment as to the origin of this that'd be cool. I don't really care, it's more curiosity. I don't really care to bother anybody, so if anybody accuses me they can tell me what I've done in a PM, then accept my silence if I don't remember them. Nobody owes anybody anything, plus hommie don't play that game ^^
An account I do know was possibly hijacked by this anomaly and messaged me, asking me a similar question... I blocked it both here and on Discord after it messaged me. The account hasn't been updated in about 3 years. I'm back-n-forth on reporting it, but probably will.
Just putting this out there -- if I get strange messages anywhere I'm not going to investigate I'm just going to block. I'd recommend the same to anybody and consider reporting if it feels like something's off.

* correction -- it's actually been about 7-8 months since the strange account I recognize was updated. Asking me "why are you blocking this person/my friend?" Lol. Out on my mobile device to visit family, don't know how to edit blogs on my phone XD
