TrotCon Day 2: Yona is Best Diabetic · 4:13am Jul 21st, 2019

Today opened, for me, to the strains of Shonen Knife covering the Ramones. Okay that’s not true it actually opened to the tones of OGMs droning snore. But we’ll forgive him.

The first thing I did today was make a beeline to the merch hall, where I paid another visit to NewGreyMare. There, I purchased some G3’s, specifically a G3 Ponyville Christmas house and mini Minty and a G3 Wisteria with all her accessories!

I then met up with Tigerose, and we went to a panel on recent pony music which was really good. Most of the music highlighted was featured on a website whose name escapes me at the moment (Horse Music Gazette?!).

Anyhow the main event of the day for me was meeting with Katy/Yona and having her sign my Art of Equestria book and also talk about insulin pumps & sensors. She uses a Medtronic 670G, by the by, and also just started using CGM sensors. Anyways she was awesome, we took a picture with our pumps together after she signed and it definitely goes down as one of my best interactions with somepony at a con!

After that, I managed to pop the into the end of the Ellie Rae panel where she was once more amazing and take a swing at her cool smiling piñata...which I totally missed the first time whoops! Anyways after that I enjoyed the Bill Newton panel and asked my patented “What Shakespeare character would you like to play” question. His answer of Rosencranz & Guilderstern was most amusing and interesting. I then got to see the first half of the best yak panel, where we leaned that Katy used to be a race-car driver, before being called off to my writers panel.

This was of course Robs Speed Fic panel, and it went very well with many great stories being written in a short period of time, often on typewriters! TrickQuestion wrote a particularly excellent story that hopefully will be posted here on FiMFiction. And yes, dear readers I will be finishing the story I wrote there and posting it... just as soon as I finish editing & writing it and several other upcoming stories.

After a hasty dinner I returned to the con to participate in one of the best panels this year, the sketchbook swap! I really, really enjoyed not only having other fans draw my OCs but also being able to draw their OCs. It was definitely good practice if nothing else, I drew more than I have in years in a span of an hour or so. I hope everyone who got my sketches enjoyed them!

I then rounded out the day by sitting at the bar, and getting properly messed up while sitting next to Admiral Biscuit and listening in to on his interesting conversation on the topic of steam locomotives, windmills, and dust explosions. I didn’t interject, I was feeling a bit polite & Fluttershy in the moment and also rather far gone thanks to the shiite canned Guinness. That is definitely a beer that’s better in a glass. Anyhow OGM finished liquidation of his lobes at the rave concert and so he collected my tipsy self and I retreated to the room to sober up a bit and finish this blog. Tomorrow, we finish out this Con, and then in a few weeks I’ll be off to BronyCon and next month Hale Farm’s Civil War Reenactment. Fun times are here!

And... where is day three, may I ask? :unsuresweetie:

Heh! I will be finishing it up & posting it today... I was pretty beat last night and decided to come back to it the next day to polish off this series. I'll be blogging all of BronyCon too.

Would he play them both at the same time?

He wasn't specific, so I suppose so? That would be absolutely hilarious, I wonder what the staging would look like?
