Blog #4: Names of the races from the movie. · 11:42pm Jul 14th, 2019
So one day, I got to thinking, "what was the name of the races from those guys in Kluge town." I mean, I already know fishman, but what about the rest?
So I ended up finding some tabletop game books call Tales of Equestria, and bought them. And you know what I found? The name of the race of the parrot people: Parrot. And the name of the race of the cat guy: Cat.
I mean seriously! Couldn't they come up with better names?! So I decided to name those races off of some monsters I found in the DND monster guide.
In my story;
Parrot will be known as Arakocra. Cat will be known as Tabaxi. And the others will be lizard-folk, fishman was already good, Moleman, the pig looking guy would be considered an orc (a scrawny one anyway), and so on. I'll know more once I come across them.
Anyway, don't those names sound more refined? What do you guys think?
...or you could call cats Abyssinians, since that's where they hail from. And abyssinian is a breed of cats.

Boring mechanics first and foremost.
Parrots, yeah... I do believe someone called them harpies at some point, but it's eh.
They came up with designs but not names. Not especially surprising since they were not that relevant to the plot.
Abyssinian, I have to keep that one in mind.

Yeah, I'll have to agree with you there. I read through the tales of Equestria players hand guide and it's not exactly the best. I personally prefer D&D 5th edition. But on the upside the monster guide gave me some really good ideas to put in my story. Like The Book Wyrm, it's a construct dragon literally made out of books.

It is simply reskinned Savage World.

It is expected, given general popularity of DnD. I've strayed away from it a long, long time ago.

That's good.
