Season 3 Premier Opinions and After thoughts. (With Pictures) Spoilers · 5:00am Nov 11th, 2012
This contains heavy spoilers.
I avoided anything season 3 related just so I could watch this part part premier with fresh eyes, I had to rewatch it, because I missed a few things.
The villain: King Sombra looks awesome, but lacks the charisma of Discord and Chrysalis. Also he barely speaks. Most of his dialogue consist of growls and roars.
^ He reminds me a lot of the Kurgan from Highlander played by Clancy Brown AKA Lex Luthor, Mr. Crabs, Taskmaster and a hundred other cartoon voices. 
_A royal guard speaks and sounds a little like Doctor Claw from Inspector Gadget.

(It seems like there was some kind of WW2 like war, because those helmets keep on reappearing in the show.)
After 
_Twilight gets so pissed that she throws her home into the air.
_Oh and Celestia can be Scary
_Twilight and Spike have a song about her test and it reminded me of that song from Beauty and The beast: Little Town
_There was a Albert Einstein pony or at least that's what I'm calling him, till I can come up with a clever horse pun.
_Shining Armor is back and didn't do much outside of get injured and throw his wife like a football. "Go Long!!!"
_Candence looks hagged out, kinda proving my theory on her not being immortal
_The ladybug dance from the Season 2 finale made reappearance
_Applejack and Rainbow Dash trolling Rarity
_Interviewing the crystal ponies reminds me of an old school point and click adventure game.
_Pinkie was going Sam Fisher on her quest to "gather some intel."
_Pinkie can make a perfect custom of her friends. Now, you can't tell it's a changeling of Pinkie Pie.
*Fluttershy freaking out in the middle of Pinkie's Fluttersuit.*
_Her Fluttershy costume was spot on and a little scary. "My cover has been blown."
_Library Pony reminds me of my grand pa. "I can't remember, I don't think I actually work here."
_Rarity when Spike has to jet. "He really likes getting his face painted." ~That made me laugh.
_The make a fair song was pretty good, if not a little saccharine.
_"I want a floogle horn!"
_The door of fear was great.
_I was actually surprised that Spike got a bigger role and they expanded upon his and Twilight's relationship as friends/ child and parental figure.
The best part was the fair scene, when everyone tried to distract the crystal ponies from the impending doom.
The stairs, all I could think was, who designed this crap M.C. Escher? Then when they slid upside down and that looked like a lot of fun.

The biggest spoiler was Spike saves the day once again and only Twilight really acknowledges it. Give him a damn medal, he's either saved or attempted to save shit like 6 times.
_The Diamond Dogs and Rarity, he got his ass kicked and went and got help.
_Snips and Snails bringing the Ursa Minor to town, he tried to stop them or in the very least convince them that it was a stupid idea.
_Discord, he sent the letters back to Twilight at the risk of his own health.
_Twilight went went bat shit insane, he called in Celestia.
_Pee Wee, he saved the egg from being smashed.
_The Crystal Empire, he breaks Twilight out of her fear induced nightmare, he brings attention to the stairs, and almost gets killed getting the Crystal Heart to its rightful place.
*At least Spike did get his own stained glass window in the palace.

In my universe, Equestria participated in World War 2. That IS an American helmet, which supports my theory that Equestria not only fought with the allies, but bought a lot of their after war surplus to accompany the weapons they got in the Lend-Lease agreement.
