Swanrun…

It was a charming city, to be sure. Its white stone buildings caught the light of the setting sun magnificently, making the sprawling city on the cliffside look like a glittering diamond on the edge of the world. Ponies could be seen coming and going through the open city gates far below, all of them blissfully unaware of the pegasus soaring high above their heads.

His cold eyes narrowed as they swept through the streets, searching for one pony in particular. Every nook, cranny, and alley was scanned, but alas, his prey was elusive as ever. Doubtless, she had found some obscure hole to hide out in, the pegasus would have to wait for her to poke her little head out before he could snip it off.

His hooves lightly touched down on one of the roofs of Swanrun’s residential districts. The roof was made of a darker stone than the walls and sloped in a shallow dome-shape to allow for the frequent rains of the area to slide harmlessly down into the cobblestone streets below. He moved forward, his dark, form-fitting leather armor not even making a rustle as he went. He was as silent as a corpse in the grave.

Quite fitting…

As he came to the edge of the roof, he scanned the streets one more time. His wings ruffled on his sides, and the blades hidden between his feathers all but itched to be released and put to work.

“Soon…” he whispered to himself, his eyes lifting up to look at the distant storm clouds rolling in from the distance. “She can’t run from me forever…”
