Journal Entry - Volume 3 - Chapter 14 · 2:55am Jun 8th, 2019

Dear Journal,

Today my friends and I went to see my new Command Center, and I must say I'm really impressed! After taking in an eyeful, Twilight and I headed for the Gates of Tartarus to carry out our mission. The Marquis has waited long enough!

Arriving at the Vile Tribe's village, we found Mythic Honor doing... whatever it is he does. When I asked him for some advice, he started babbling again! Honestly, I'm not sure if he's a genius or just plain crazy! Maybe both!

Anyways... we entered the cave and found my squad waiting for us. Using the cape Mythic Honor made me from the Marquis' skin, I was able to help everyone enter Tartarus. Somehow it allows me to enter, when no one else can! I can only assume it's because the barrier views him as a prisoner! Or perhaps it's because the cloak is made of magical organic material. From what I've heard about them, hydra are truly fascinating creatures! However, the Marquis isn't a science project! He's my friend!

We made our way to the old Vile Tribe headquarters and my squad got to work gathering up the old books Mythic Honor left behind. After a short rest, we went to the Hydra Marshes to find the Marquis! Calling out to him, my friend broke through the surface shortly! He was happy to see us... I think. Hydra facial expressions aren't really something I'm good at reading! I explained the plan, and shrunk him down. We returned to the base to check in with my squad.

Apparently while we were out, King Malevolence and a few of his guards took up positions in front of the Gates of Tartarus! Admittedly, that was actually a smart move on his part! I mean, to leave I HAD to go that way! Viktor rigged the Town Hall to explode, so as not to allow the demons to have any of its secrets! It also was part of my plan to get the jump on them!

Traveling to the gates, we found that the king had taken three mares prisoner to use as bargaining chips! What hell they endured as his prisoners, I don't know! What I did know was, we had to save them! Allowing the king to leave Tartarus, shrunken down, I waited as he celebrated his newfound "freedom". When the bombs blew, I grabbed him, and rolled back into Tartarus as my squad rescued the three sick mares and took them through the Gates!

For a bit of payback, I left the demon king without casting the counter spell. For what he did to those three... he got off light! Besides... I didn't really have time to do anything else! Grabbing the mares, we ran toward the Vile Tribe's village to get them medical help! With any luck they'll be okay!

Often times it's better to use your brains over brawn! Especially when the safety of others is one the line.
