New icon (finally) and thoughts on Patreon · 2:12pm May 30th, 2019
The next chapter is currently in the editing process and will be posted in the next few days. In the mean time I've finally gotten around to drawing a replacement for that placeholder icon (which I think had been there for at least four years? I can't remember). I'm not usually one for OC 'ponysonas', if they're still a thing, but Pencil Pusher almost counts, so here he is when he isn't annoying Blueblood by being an obstructive jobsworth (probably being an obstructive jobsworth in a civilian job).
A few blog posts ago someone suggested I set up a Patreon to keep me motivated to write. After some thought I've decided that it just isn't for me. I write mainly to entertain myself (and partially as therapy, when I start thinking about it too hard), in fact I can't remember a time when I wasn't making up stories and scribbling them down and occasionally posting them for strangers on the internet to enjoy/critique/hate etc. I fear by tying what I do for fun to money will turn it into a job in my mind, and will therefore have the opposite effect. I already have one of those and I hate it. That's not a slight against authors who do have Patreon; if they can generate an income from their art and talent then good for them, why shouldn't they? But I am nowhere near prolific or good enough to deserve that. There's also the fact that I don't feel confident enough about my abilities to always deliver, and I really do not want to be one of those users who fails on that. I'd also only spend the money on growing my collection of 1940s vintage suits and on strong liquor, so it's probably not a good investment anyway. Perhaps Ko-Fi would be a happy medium, if people want to send me a small tip then they can?
Anyway, this has been another pointless ramble from Yours Truly. New chapter will be up soon, probably by this weekend.
