Cherry Rie

Overly creative and have never finished a pet project in my life. A bad combination for someone who wants to take a crack at Fic writing.

    A matter of Time

Imagine someone reminding you of a super important deadline; one you’ve always known about yet seemed so far away as to be irrelevant in your daily life. Suddenly everything’s on hold, yet every moment is an important grain of time, slipping through an hour glass that you cannot refill or turn over once it’s empty.

    Work and Madness

Just an update and an apology to everyone, given I’m so very behind on the last chapter for AKH. Having hoped to have it released two weeks ago, I've just not had the time to write with collage work mounting. The end of year show is ten days away and frankly I feel less then prepared.

    Days One and Two

Day two of house sitting for my friend... Regretting having said yes despite knowing just how much of a slob they were.

    SPAAAAAAAACE!

Ahem. So. I recently re-discovered this mystical thing called the 'favorite' button >.<

Amazing what a meta story can achieve, isn't it? After the function disappeared for a short while I had honestly forgotten stars even existed. To all the amazing authors I track, I offer my sincere apologies.

Perhaps it’s healthy to be reminded? Just as philosophers of the romantic era used to keep a skull on their desk, so too should we all be aware that this existence is not simply a dress rehearsal. Why prepare for a spiritual after-life? Surely it is better to find that serenity we innately desire in the world we already know?
It is by far the strangest sensation in the world, having an expiry date. Yet we all have one.

Whatever brought this on, makes me worry for you. I hope everything is all right. If not, I care.

Preparation for an after life can very well have rewards in the present day. I'm not talking about a religion, but just living a good life in general, as in "don't hurt others" and "help good people". That can have a profound effect on the lives of others as well as your own. If you help people enough, then they will return the favor when needed, assuming they are not selfish jerks with their heads shoved up their asses.

I don't know the situation you're in now, so I won't try to give advice. However, I do hope you will be able to do what you need to do with the time you have left.

It's been months now. I have no idea if you are alright - the tone of your last blog sounded mortal. I hope you are alive.

If you should read this, if you should think kindly of me and have the time, please let me know how you are doing.

In any case, I remember you fondly.

Today, I noticed that Cherry Rie's Deviant Art page has been taken down.

As far as I can tell, there is nothing left of "Sophia Diana Hughes", of Cherry Rie, beyond this page, here on Fimfiction.

She fell off the planet, as far as I can tell. And that suggests she may not be with us any longer, and that makes me sad.

Cherry Rie was always nice to me, more than nice, she was supportive, kind, and generous with her attention. She was smart, too, and a good writer. I am so proud that she finished her novel, First Draft. She once told me that she had never finished a story in her life. She finally did, with First Draft.

I can hope that my writing friend here just got tired of ponies and went off to do other things. But I fear the worst, because of her last message, the message above.

Cherry Rie mattered to me.

I am Petal Chatoyance, and I endorse Cherry Rie.

I am Jennifer Diane Reitz, and I endorse Sophia Diana Hughes.

I am Petal, and Jennifer, and I think the world of Sophia / Cherry.

She was one of my very favorite people here on the Citadel. Better than Commander Shepard.

And I miss her.

And I wish her only the best, whatever the case.
