I finally got Cynical to try Danganronpa. · 11:58am Mar 23rd, 2019
Ever play a game that, for whatever reason, you've wanted to talk about a lot with your friends, but just couldn't? Well, that's how I've felt over the last month with this game series called Danganronpa. In Early February, I gave the series a shot, due to being a fan of Ace Attorney and this game sharing a lot of similar elements, and spent the next month and a half 100%ing the entire trilogy. From the loveable characters to the inventive mysteries to the intriguing overarching story, I simply fell in love. Unfortunately, because it's a murder mystery game, where just knowing one murderer can spoil every case to some extent, not just the case where they're the murderer, I had to keep quiet about spoilers to the best of my ability, and I hated that, since I really liked these characters enough to want to talk about them in length.
Luckily, Cynical was there and more than willing to listen to me talk, and even though I had to word myself extremely carefully to avoid spoilers, resulting in a lot of stuff still being pent up, it helped me get some of it out of my system, and he seemed intrigued by my talk of the games, and said that it sounded like something he wanted to try out for himself.
Yesterday, it paid off, as he happened to acquire a copy of the first game, Trigger Happy Havoc, on Steam. I watched him stream the beginning over a Discord call, and so far, it seems he's enjoying himself, which I figured he would. He already seems to like a good chunk of the cast, and has even made some predictions on who will die first (Specifically, he suspects that the Affluent Progeny Byakuya will murder the Programmer Chihiro in the first case), and who he hopes to survive (Taka and Leon). I don't want to spoil if he's right or wrong, but going in knowing everything about the game like I do, there's something incredibly enjoyable about watching someone new to the series coming up with their predictions and faves.
Good luck, my friend. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I did. ;)
I'm really digging it so far! It'll probably be funny to go back and look at my theories once I've finished the game and see how wrong/right I am.
Sounds like it could be fun
