Thoughts on Pokémon Sword & Shield

I’m posting my opinions here so I can easily link to this. I have a YouTube channel, but I don’t like making news & speculation videos because they get dated VERY quickly.

• The starting town looks really similar to the starting town from Mr. Buddy’s England region.
• Scorbunny is a really generic name, and it also looks like one of the London 2012 Olympic mascots. Also, hooray for perpetuating the myth that Fire starters are based on the Chinese Zodiac!
• Mincinno is available during the main story. I approve of this. (Back in 2011, I was obsessed with Mincinno when I first learned about it, but I never used one.)
• The trailer’s music is a remix of the Hall of Fame theme.
• Galar sounds like “valour”.
• I like how they said that Pokémon helped build the regions industries. It bothered me when Sun and Moon were announced and they said that Alola had “a unique culture where people lived alongside Pokémon” because I thought, “isn’t that everywhere in the Pokémon world?”
• I didn’t realise this was supposed to be based on the UK (specifically, England - why do people use “British” to refer to “England”, but refer to the other countries by their specific denonyms?) until I saw the train. I thought that it looked like Mr. Buddy’s Italy region at first... and then I realised that I haven’t seen that video yet.
• That random mine reminds me of both the Glittering Cave from X and Y, and Dovan Volcano from Monster Hunter Stories.
• The last shot looks like the male protagonist is about to play football.
