FiMFetch's search interface is pretty garbage, I won't lie.
Always use the advanced search options.
Also bear in mind that it doesn't seem to do very well if all you have is a partial search string, so you need to know the full title or the author's full pen name. Sometimes searches are more successful when you cast a broad net, and sometimes, weirdly, it works better when you give the most narrow search criteria that you can.
