It's always been a conundrum for me as to how to accurately tag/describe this story. Even after reading the FAQs, it gets a bit puzzling to me over the fine distinctions between [E] and [M], and [E][Sex] and [M][Sex]. [Porn] seems pretty understandable, as does (clop). But at what point for a [M] tag does sensual/intimate/sexual descriptions require adding [Sex]?
I never pictured "The Ties That Bind" being porn or clop, but, as I ruminate on things, I can see where descriptions will be getting, ah . . . descriptive? I'd rather not wait until that happens to append tags, and risk upsetting readers who have journeyed that distance and then feel betrayed because what was agreeable to them until that point has changed to something they are uncomfortable with continuing.
I would also be grateful for any feedback. It sometimes feels as if I'm scattering pages to the wind. Especially since I like dropping a lot of subtle clues and hints, as well as wordplay, and I'm left to wonder if anyone even notices them.
If you're not sure, just add the Sex tag - then you can safely be as descriptive as you want. More sensual ponies can only be a good thing! Full "steam" ahead and damn the torpedoes.
The joys of tag rumination. The descriptions probably warrant the sex tag, but I get the questioning. It's a facet in a larger tale and not the sole focus.
It's not a clear cut answer. Frankly, I'm just glad you're back. The Ties that Bind has remained one of my faves for years. It's good to read again.
Well, during the story's hiatus, the Fetish tag came about.

The [SEX] tag gets confusing. According to Tag Information, "The sex tag, when used with a teen rating, is used as a warning that the story contains lightly-charged sexual situations, innuendo, or vaguely implied (but not described!) sexual acts. Some light kissing is fine, light touching generally is too, but if things get heavily charged, you need to move to the mature tag."
Needless to say, I'd pretty much realized [MATURE] was needed right out of the gate.
But then we have:
So what, exactly, is meant by "detailed descriptions"?
Ah, well. better to add [SEX] and [FETISH] and be safe than be sorry.
Thanks for the advice!
In my view, if it's just what we've seen in the last couple of chapters that's clearly "Fetish" but not "Sex". If you start to describe their genitalia or their sexual arousal, then it's definitely "Sex" as well.
