Okay, so I'm watching My Little Pony for the first time(I watched 4x03 yesterday) and I've got several long-term questions.
#1. What is the deal with the Crystal Empire? Like, is it something from previous incarnations of MLP that they just had to incorporate? Because the way it's presented was just weird. All of a sudden there's this empire made of crystal that was apparently frozen in time in another dimension(???)... with ponies made of crystal(??????) and we're sending this princess that we only introduced last episode to run it. That's a lot of heavy lore for a show that had so far primarily been just about learning friendship lessons in a little town.

#2. What made Celestia think reforming Discord was a good idea? Isn't that kind of like releasing the Joker and having Batman babysit him? Was Celestia just really bored that day?

#3. If Celestia and Luna have ruled for thousands of years, how come Cadence and Twilight are the only other alicorns? Thousands of years, and nobody else has completed the necessary challenges? Also, how lucky is it that Cadence and Twilight became alicorns during each other's life time? And what's the deal with Prince Blueblood?

#4. Are we ever gonna see more stallions? No wonder fans started to ship everyone with humans.

#5. Is there a reason why season 3 was so short? I heard that Lauren Faust left during that time, but that's all.

The "Crystal Empire" isn't even an empire! It's not even a kingdom, it's a city state at best but I guess The Crystal City State doesn't have the same ring to it.

There are a lot more stallions than there used to be in the earlier seasons which I am fine with but someone I know really hates it lol.

#1: While I agree with your assessment, if you ever get to reading the comics, they do dive into the history of it further, and it kinda makes more sense. Still lots of holes there, but it's better.

#2: Well, she says that she has uses for him once he's reformed. So far we've seen... nothing, really. He's there to be a "comedy relief" or whatever, but honestly most of the time he's just a pain in the ass to everyone else. My guess was his "return" was more based on real life reasons, like he wanted the job or something, so they just said meh and threw him back in. (Edit: DeLance, that is, wanted back on the show.)

#3: So I've not myself dived into it, but apparently, Candy (Cadance, but I love DWK's nickname for her) was originally a pegasus, and two hundredish years prior to the show, became an alicorn for reasons explained in a one off book printed by Hasbro, like The Tail of the Two Sisters. Considering it takes a magical feat to gain such a grace, it does question how or why nopony else has. It was hinted that Starswirl might have achieved this, but his final spell was never completed because he didn't understand friendship or whatever.

#4: If you're still on S4, especially early S4, then get ready, because we do see more stallions in the show. Lots of one off characters, some background, etc.

#5: Season three's length was because originally, that was to be the final season. But they got an extension, however too late to extend the season for a full length 26 episodes. The end goal, by Faust herself, was that Twilight becoming an alicorn was to be the end of the show, so they kinda ran with that, but rushed it to the point it was painful to most. Then they decided, "hey you know what, we're still popular, so lets keep this going!" and they did. It was first extended to six seasons, then eight, and lastly nine.
