2019 and Me · 5:24pm Jan 22nd, 2019
I wanted to give everyone an update about what my plans and expectations for writing are in 2019, as well as a little insight as to why I haven't managed to be very active here.
First of all, I know a lot of my followers are eagerly awaiting the completion of Nightmare's Reign. I'll be honest though; I'm not sure it's going to happen. The fic started as a commission that the buyer has since cancelled (and apparently left the fandom), and while I did enjoy writing parts of it, overall it's been a very complicated fic to write, and since futa really isn't my speed, working on it just feels like a chore.
For a bit more honesty, I'll admit that writing in general feels like a bit of a chore. I think a lot of this stems from my workload. When I started a lot of my unfinished fics, I was in college and had quite a bit of free time, especially around breaks. Now that I'm married and have two jobs, my ability to write is much more restricted. Not that I'm unhappy; married life is great to be sure. I just find myself struggling with motivation like so many others out there.
Not that I struggle in inspiration. I've got several unpublished fics started. One is a simple slice of life following Big Mac and his big-dicked adventures. The other is a continuation of The Ladies' Tea that delves deeper into the Tea Society. I've even got a comedy fic following Shining Armor and his sexual misadventures started. Plus, several nascent ideas involving all sorts of new and old characters. But most of these are individually long series that'll likely end up being close to novel length if completed, and it feels bad starting them when I already have so many unfinished fics to work on.
Furthermore, I've also been wanting to expand outward from ponies and into general R34/furry works for a while. I've been a furry long before I was a brony, and there's so much good material to explore beyond MLP, especially with the show's rumored ending approaching. I believe the fandom will persist even after that point for a long time, and I don't plan to stop writing clop anytime soon. However, I am thinking that perhaps working on some other things might kick-start my drive again.
But I do love writing, especially writing porn, and I definitely want to keep doing it. The challenge for me is figuring out how to keep it fun. Like any content creator, I do love feedback and interaction, and although that isn't enough to ignite my drive alone, I would like to know what you guys think. Anything you'd really like to see me work on? Any new ideas sound enticing to you that you'd like to hear more of? Disappointed in my radio silence? Please let me know.
P.S. If anyone knows any other good sites to upload furry fics or R34, please share. FurAffinity's setup is very clunky for fics, and as far as I've seen SoFurry and Inkbunny aren't much better. AO3 has a good layout, but I don't think there's much of an audience for the stuff I write there. Honestly, Fimfiction's layout and systems are so good they're reason enough to stay on their own.
Stories aren't my bread and butter but I find it best to relax and take things slowly. May not work for you but worth a shot to give advice.
