After rereading Paul Anderson's "The High Crusade" I come with some random idea. Basically decade or two after Nightmare Moon some spaceship landed on pony!Earth and aliens tried to take over the Equestria.
It's gone just as fine as in "The High Crusade" and ponies ended up with a real spaceship. Well, I planned to make it less ridiculous than "The High Crusade" so ponies don't take over interstellar empire but maybe some slavers guild? With some space station as their main base? But all in all, ponies get themselves some really advanced tech and some people who know how all of this works.
After this, I envisioned two possible paths: a boring one and an interesting one. Boring path all about jumping to "canon time". Well, with some changes, of course. Like Equestria being an interstellar state, some changes in M6 and so on. Interesting path all about what happened immediately after ponies win. How they try to understand their trophy, how they try to fuse magic and technology, how they deal with other countries on their planet, how Celestia ended up as a planetary leader and so on :).
