For those of you who are unaware, tumblr announced that on the seventeenth of this month, they would be banning nearly all adult and NSFW content. This announcement was also marked by the release of a new algorithm, which was supposed to flag things which might be inappropriate, but turns out was more likely to mark random images than actual nsfw content. This led a lot of people -- especially those who make a living off nsfw art -- getting upset, as well as people who didn't but found themselves getting hit by the algorithm.
However, it seems that the tumblr staff continues to remain rather lazy an incompetent (accusations I've heard before, and at this point, feel inclined to agree with).
From what I can gather, instead of actually getting rid of adult or nsfw blogs, they simply put them behind block on their page announcing said page contains sensitive material. It's also something that people are already starting to get around.
So, it seems tumbler did not take down the porn and such as they claimed. Figuratively speaking, they basically just threw a sheet over it, and told people not to look.
Wait, so they're doing the exact same thing they did before unleashing the algorithm?
I can't tell of this is hilarious or just sad. Given all the agita that this farce has caused, I'm leaning towards the latter.
So, tumblr's staff are morons. Gotcha.
They must have recently seen that South Park episode where the citizens attempt to emu the problem and dig their heads into the ground.
Granted, yes, this is an old episode, and a somewhat controversial one... but let's face it, they are just as lazy and oafish as the citizens of South Park are when dealing with problems!
