    Some major personal updates

I'll get right to the point: I got a new job! :pinkiehappy:

While I enjoyed my previous work, it was mostly thoughtless data entry and wasn't even close to full-time. I have clawed my way out of the welfare trap.

Progress Report #2, and a Question

Question first: Does anybody know what happened to Swift Blade Productions? I could've sworn when I trailed off that they were a rising audio reading channel. Now I can't even find them on YouTube. :rainbowderp:

    Howdy, all!

I'm curious if anyone has plans for this Hallow's Eve. I don't have much worked out for it yet myself.

Minesweeper XL and Finals Week Pranks · 3:39am Dec 13th, 2018

I was persuaded by a couple of my friend in Astronomy to wear some of my armor (my gambeson, arming cap, hooded cape, and chainmail headset) to my Astronomy final. They drove me home yesterday to go get it. The car ride was a bit of a laugh. We listened to the one dude's cringy mixtape and his copy of the Shrek soundtrack. They got to see my grandparents. My grandparents liked them. My peers agreed to show up in class in costumed onesies for their final with me.

Today, I decided to use my excess printing money (it disappears at the end of the semester if unused) to print out a bunch of copies of the top of the Wikipedia entry for Toast Sandwich. As I was printing from one of the on-campus computer labs, a gentleman caught wind of my explanation and said it was a noble cause. He let me use almost his entire printing money sum to purchase more prints. I went around to various classrooms and common areas in the school with almost 800 sheets of the recipe. :pinkiecrazy: Tomorrow might be a little wild. I don't know if the custodians make their rounds every morning...

So I finally finished my huge Minesweeper game I started somewhere last winter or so. Never doing that again. :pinkiecrazy:

Mines: 128,000

Stupendous! I am beholding that green field of static and despairing.

Wikipedia entry for Toast Sandwich

It appears that some have tried to defeat the purpose and replace the toast with sliced meat, though this might have been tongue-in-cheek.

Also, you and your astronomy friends deserve bonus life points for wearing armor to your final. I mean, I walked into a convenience store once carrying a functional mourning star while I shopped for snacks, but that was witnessed by far fewer people than the number I imagine will attend the final, and was certainly under far more humble circumstances. Good show.

:twilightblush:Thank you. The last hour or so of play was hellish. I'd say 50-70 of those undos can be attributed to portions of the map that were unsolvable without guessing. Since only up to four undos are available at a given time and each one regenerates after 30 minutes, it was grueling. Still, I may play the smaller 2,000 mine boards in the future. I can definitely say my Minesweeper skills are much stronger now. Wherever that takes me. :rainbowlaugh:

this might have been tongue-in-cheek.

I believe so. In any case, do not think me a hypocrite. I tried this sandwich myself on campus, asking for a toasted kaiser roll between another halved kaiser roll with some salt and pepper to taste. I'm not a butter fan, so I did without. It's not bad so long as the bread's decent. :rainbowwild: It cost me a dollar, the same as a lemon here. Honestly, there are some students on campus with little money left on their meal plans, and this would really help them out.

I saw that a number of the copies I left in the common areas of the school were still about, although by the time I finished my lunch today, there was a lady systematically removing my missives from the main feeding area.

I also hid a number of copies in unexpected places for laughs to come. Inside a couple vending machines, behind emergency instruction books in the classrooms, inside a couple microwaves, a couple cabinets, a couple laptop carts, a lectern, a box full of books on U.S. tax law, under certain pieces of furniture, and on a couple posted boards.

Unfortunately, my classmates didn't realize that their onesies were back at the one dude's (not depicted) home, so I was solo for this. Then again, there were only five of us in the entire class, but I did wear it around campus for a bit before I headed back to take off the chainmail since it was making my neck tired. But I'm sure to wear the gambeson and hooded cape more around campus. They're very warm.

Holy cow, man! A morning star? They allow open carry of that where you live? I'm not sure if PA does. :rainbowlaugh:

On a totally unrelated note, I have MFC a listen last night. First time I gave one of my works an honest non-editing listen in months.

unsolvable

This was my biggest gripe about Minesweeper. Even with 100 mines, a victory was never guaranteed. The version I used to play didn't allow undos.

the same as a lemon here

I take offense to the lemon dealer's obvious gouging. The fair price of a lemon should be at most $0.50. After two consecutive days of consuming lemon water (after many non-consecutive days), I have reached the tentative conclusion that they have psychotropic effects. It's the sub-flavors. The undertones. They speak, if one listens. I've read, in addition, that lemons are essential to Mediterranean cuisine, which is my favorite. It's all starting to make sense.

Inside a couple vending machines, behind emergency instruction books in the classrooms, inside a couple microwaves, a couple cabinets, a couple laptop carts, a lectern, a box full of books on U.S. tax law, under certain pieces of furniture, and on a couple posted boards.

Priceless. :rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh: Anyone who opens a microwave and doesn't laugh upon finding one of those is heartless. And if they don't consider the possibilities, they're just silly. A toast sandwich is much healthier, I think, than Chef Boyardee, though perhaps not as nutritious.

making my neck tired.

You know, I never considered that. I wonder whether ancient warriors developed neck problems. They probably had more pressing things to worry about, though (pun intended :pinkiesick:).

They allow open carry of that where you live?

Not sure, actually. It was in my youth, and I never thought to check. If I had learned that it was illegal, I would have stopped, as I was (and am) a stickler for obeying the law (unless we're talking about things like driving 5-10 mph over the speed limit). I had it hanging business-end down in my basement for a while not too long ago, but I eventually thought that might seem too weird for potential visitors. It might also dent a forehead.

MFC

A classic, to be sure. I see it's doing quite well, as is your sub count. Any tentative release dates coming up?

The version I used to play didn't allow undos.

 That’s standard. I guess the devs for this version thought it’d be upsetting if they didn’t offer the option. :twilightsheepish:

Still, I feel you. Very satisfying to clear a 100 board sans undos.

I concur on the markup.

You know, if someone made a bet to me that, after four years of being on this site, I would find myself considering the notion that there are subliminal messages in the flavor of lemons, I would have taken it and lost my wager.

I’m glad to have amused you with my inane prank, although to be completely serious, I laughed so much while I was planting the missives that the act itself was worth it. Even as I type, I am seated at a table on campus which still features it. As for the Chef Boyardee, I’d be inclined to eat the two together to, on average, make up for the deficits of each.

The thing is, with a helmet, you have some sort of structure; unless it is completely seated on top of your head, your shoulders and other armor can bear some of the burden. With the chainmail, it all hangs, pressuring mostly the top the head. I would very much prefer a helmet...

To be honest, I do not know of any particular Pennsylvania law that would out right prohibits such an arm; however, it could be construed as a certain variety of weapon that falls under a sort of catch-all for dangerous non-utilitarian implements here.
Hehehehe, ah yes, like the Sword of Damocles.

MFC is very quotable.

I love how polite you are, Future Perfect. I don’t think anyone has ever called me ‘Ms.Pie’ in my entire life, and it’s after I have killed so many. Shouldn’t that garner less respect? It seems that being a baker is a less respectable occupation than a serial killer.

A delicious poke at the media obsession with the nature of those so disturbed. Heck, we give prisoners what they want for their final meals. Does that speak to some latent reverence harbored for them?

Any tentative release dates coming up?

None to my knowledge. However, I am scheduled to pull together a couple short passages for Lotus Moon and Sektiss still since I've only finished one work, but Sektiss returned asking for me to do additional voicing for the work I signed on for. There's one project I still intend to do before moving back to the works we've discussed.

What ties into this is the fact that listening to MFC left me with a stronger appetite to return.
The thought of how much better I could do the story now pervaded my listening. I think it's good, yes. I'm very happy that this reading did not get stuck at 300 or even 700-some views, as I very distinctly remember watching it sit at. The fact dawned on me: that I think I could even easily do a comparable job, let alone a better one, than that take which I felt for so long I could not possibly replicate. I lack any intention to do that particular story again; however, I know again that I have stuff like that in me. :rainbowdetermined2:

If only you were as strong as you thought … I’d still be finding ways to persecute you!
