WBAY-TV was Green Bay's first television station, and Wisconsin's second, signing on the air March 17, 1953. WBAY originally carried all four networks of the day, but by 1957 it was down to CBS. It was originally property of the the Norbertine Order of Priests, whose abbey was in nearby De Pere; the Norbertines sold channel 3 to Nationwide Communications in 1974. On March 15, 1992, almost near St. Patrick's Day, WBAY-TV became an ABC station. In 1993, WBAY was sold to Young Broadcasting, whose stations became part of Media General in 2014 (channel 3 is now owned by Gray Television.)
