Howdy folks, gonna do a little life update dump here, followed by some good news if you happen to follow me because you like my writing and not because you're one of my friends that I tricked into that is following me just for kicks.
The last few months have been a whirlwind of ups and downs. On this site, I've been getting some pretty awesome stuff in the way of praise from some the site's established reviewers and groups, that and my appearance on the Barcast a few weeks ago. Things have been fun, and I'd say I've accomplished a few things that I've been striving for basically since I joined.
On the flip side, real life has been less fun. I've faced some pretty severe setbacks related to my schooling, and though I haven't dropped out, it's now going to take longer to get my degree. Not only that, I've been battling what is probably a very mild, temporary depression because of this. I've been in a funk for the better part of two months, slowly losing touch with people that I care about and feeling pretty isolated and alone, even though I have a ton of amazing friends around to support me. As bad as that sounds, I think I've gotten a bit of my mojo back in the last few days. I've been more motivated and energized, and I think I might finally be coming back around.
And in the spirit of that newfound energy, I've got a little bit of news regarding story stuff. For starters, the next chapter of Learning Curve is sitting at about half complete after going through two substantial reworks. I think I've got the outline where it needs to be, and now the only thing left is to sit down and get writing. It'll be along in the near-ish future!
Aside from that as my only current ongoing project, last night I dug into my story ideas folder (which is painfully thin. I don't exactly come up with them a lot) and pulled out two projects that I stuffed in there years ago.
The first, a comedy oneshot about Discord getting arrested. Trust me, it's not going to be as random as that description sounds.
The second is one that I tried writing once upon a time but totally failed on the first try. The story is meant to be a philosophical journey, starring Zecora and Treehugger. Not only is it going to be a tough job to cram such deep thinking into a story about ponies, but I'll have to write in verse a lot of the time. Definitely a tough nut to crack, but I imagine it might be worth it if I can pull it off.
Anyway, that's what I'm up to right now. Hopefully I'll have some more horsewords to post around here soon!
Writing Zecora is so much fun. I can't wait to see how you do it.
