I guess that counts as being productive, right? · 2:04am Sep 20th, 2018
Had the day off.
Which, admittedly, is always nice. But at the same time, it's one of those things where I have to wonder "so, uh, just what did I accomplish today?" Call it the curse of productivity, or something. Or the vague sense of obligation that I should always be doing, uh ... something. Something productive, at least. Which leads to a vague sense of disappointment more often than not, 'cause I am something of a lazy bastard.
BUT.
I did things today! Vaguely productive things, even. First off, I went ahead and hammered out a thousand words or so of Five Friendly Venoms. I wasn't expecting to work on that particular story, but that's what I wound up doing. And now there's a new chapter. Woo!
Later, on a whim I happened to stop into a Games Workshop store. You know, the little strip-mall places that are there to sell you ridiculously pricey toy soldiers. (I was kind of curious about this new Kill Team skirmish game they've got going, y'see). And, while I was there, I happened to overhear some other nerds looking at the shelf of tie-in novels of dubious quality. Being polite (and perhaps antisocial), I kept my trap shut instead of telling them to go read, 'know, good books.
NERD 1: "Hey, what should I read next?"
NERD 2: "There's a new Ciaphas Cain omnibus."
NERD 1: "Ciaphas Cain? He looks like a badass."
... I managed not to laugh. Given Cain's origins (and the fact I'd just posted a new Flash Sentry Papers installment), I couldn't help but find things a little serendipitous.
But yeah! I'm looking forward to concluding Five Deadly Venoms before too terribly long, and then, theoretically, I'll finish the silly one-shot I'm tinkering around with.
That, or I'll move onto *gasp* non-fanfic stuff. Scandalous. I know.
