A little bit of happiness for me · 3:42am Aug 27th, 2018
I know I posted a previous blog post a hour or so ago but I did find something off of YouTube that made me feel happy. But this requires some storytime so plz enjoy my story.
A few months back I got in contact with a Youtuber I follow called Baremetal HW. He has about 200k subscribers and focuses on customization and full restoration of classic and modern Hot Wheels. I explained to him that I had a old Bye Focal Hot Wheel that I had no use for anymore and was in dire need of a restoration. Now those not familiar with Hot Wheels allow me to explain that Hot Wheels back when they first started made their cars under the name Redlines, due to the red line going around the tire. Redlines in good condition are not cheap and can go for a lot of money sometimes. So thankfully doing my research I discovered my car was in fact a Redline and not a very common casting.
Thankfully through email I sent him photos and soon mailed him the car for restoration with a handwritten letter saying thanks and letting him keep the car. Months pass to today and lo and behold he does a restoration video on it.
Reviewing the video I was say the least shocked my car was in very bad condition and that even Baremetal HW himself stated that he wasn't sure it was salvageable. But thankfully at the end he was able to fully restore in and I'm glad to say that it looks beautiful. So to Baremetal I say thank you for restoring it to it's former glory and I hope that it fits your redline collection well.
