A serious question · 3:28am Oct 31st, 2018
I have a question for all my followers or people who read this blog that currently live in or are from the United States. A good friend of mine here on Fimfiction released a interesting story the other day that really focused on topics that go through my thoughts now and again. But thinking this story over and tying in events in the past decade I have came up with a serious question for this: What do you people see in a United States soldier or Veteran?
Now I want a honest answer from whoever reads this. I'm asking this cause I've seen events in news and media that make me question our societies view on war. I've seen videos of people burning American flags in front of war veterans, news reports on families being booed and threatened because a family member either served or died fighting. Hell I even remember a news article from a news channel website about people on airlines who disrespect our fallen who are being delivered to their final resting place by not showing respect and waiting for the fallen soldier to be removed off the plane!
That's why I ask this question. I want to know from today's society on what you as a person, not persuaded by others or the media, but as your true self feel about soldiers of the past, present, and future battles. I myself personally see that these people should be treated with honor and respect. These men and women fought for our rights as a person and stood for what they believed in. I have family and friends who have faced these situations and try to not remember or try to forget the pain they felt or the honor they had when they fought for us. So as I said before: What do you people see in a United States soldier or Veteran?
I think a lot of the time, they don't get the recognition that they deserve. In a US Soldier/Veteran, I see someone who is willing to fight to their grave, just so the rest of us can have the freedoms that we enjoy. I don't think that most people respect them enough.
The next time you see one, offer a gesture of kindness, as even something as offering a cup of coffee or shaking their hand, thanking them for what they've done, shows an enormous amount of respect and gratitude. It's the things you do to show it.
Merry Christmas all, and thank you for everything.
