The title says it all. A crossover between Doom (the 2016 reboot) and MLP. First of all, the question is — would you readers like to see something like it? I've been thinking about it since Doom 2016 came out, and I think it can turn out to be very interesting.
I'm not going to write a gore fest. I know a lot of people like Doom for what it is — slaying demons in all sorts of way. Brutality, slaughter, all that. However, I want to focus on something that I found pretty interesting — the lore and the story behind Doom. Yes, there is one, and I think it can be explored in certain ways.
So, I want to write a story-driven Doom crossover. To me, it seems like a good idea to improve my writing skills. The protagonist of Doom, the Doom Slayer, doesn't speak. And if he ever speaks, he does it extremely rarely. So, writing something like this is a challenge for me because I like dialogue. Writing something without dialogue (or with an essentially mute character) will certainly be interesting.
I want to ask you what you think about that. The idea I have is this (spoilers from Doom 2016 ahead): after the Doom Slayer is teleported from Mars by Samuel Hayden, the teleporter malfunctions and ends up in Equestria. All his weapons gone, armor gone, and he is left to adapt to a new world. Of course, it won't go without certain conflicts, but that's for the story itself.
Some would say that the Doom Slayer is a one-dimensional character: a rage-filled killing machine. But, if one is to look into the lore, it's evident that he isn't. I want to explore that, as well as put ponies into that, because, well, that's what I write. I think I can get away with it, considering that things like crossovers with Warhammer 40k were done, and that universe is pretty much the opposite of what MLP has.
So, what do you think about that? Would you be interested in a story like that? Would you like to read it? I'll write it anyway once I'm done with at least one of my current stories, but I'd like to hear different opinions first.

You'd have to be careful with his character. He's a silent protagonist but shows various emotions in the reboot using gestures and the like, but the Doom stories on this site tend to over characterize him which kinda ruins his mystique (though to be fair, some of them are displaced which tends to add more personality than the original by default). One story does him decently but was a more comedic one of him pummelling caribou than actual story.
One other thing: he backed-up VEGA ai and I think it would add an interesting dynamic if he were included as a character. Other than that I would like to see what you could come up with if you go through with it.

One of the emotions shown is anger (in the elevator at the beginning of the game he has a one-sided conversation with Doc and gets REALLY mad at Sammy boi to the point he cracks his knuckles and smashes elevators communication system (my favorite moment in the game tbh)), and he expresses it explictly.

That sounds quite interesting. I own Doom on steam but I don't have a PC to play it on. Though Doom 3 was pretty good.

Well, It kind of doesn't fit the lore, a bit. Basically the doom slayer's son died in a war with demons, and he went rage mode on them, at the time without special armor, then a demon called The Betrayer came and told he could resurrect his son, in exchange he'll need to help them kill humans, they succeed and Doom Slayer's son is resurrected, but he's resurrected into something called The Icon of Sin, basically an unrecognizeable version of his son. You know the rest, Rage mode on demons(With more Rage), then he came to the smiths in hell to make him an armor, and they did... they made a rejuvinating armor, so as long as he's killing, he's immortal. But without it... he'll barely live 20-50 years at max. Hope this helped.Here's a video where it's explained better, watch the first part, it's the lore behind the doom slayer.

Yeah, the thing that stuck with me most is how great the storytelling in Doom is. You can just slay demons, of course, but if you pay attention, you see that it's more than that.

That video isn't really accurate, though. It says that he kills demons because he is raging and he would do nothing else but kill demons forever. But that's not true, he only wants to kill them so that they pose no threat to everyone else. Also, I don't think the armor allows him to live in that sense of the word. In the game, if you kill a demon using glory kills, they drop health. I think that's what the suit does, it allows the Slayer to heal himself as long as he's killing. But, since in-game health isn't just depleting all the time, I'd say he can live as long as a normal human if not longer. The armor just allows him to fight more. And remember, he didn't fight badly even without it.
So, his suit isn't like Darth Vader's suit. He doesn't exactly need it to survive but it makes surviving easier.

If the suit doesn't allow him to live forever, how'd he fight demons for EONS then?
Also, it's not true that he's fighting to protect, he BETRAYED his own kind and chose to kill demons for revenge. How're you fighting to protect, if there's nothing left to protect?
P.S. demons made the doom slayer immortal in the sarcophagus, for torture purposes.

Hm, that's a good point about living forever. The suit probably supports it but I don't think he would live less than a human. He has peak physical form, his mind is sharp (he can instantly figure out how to use a weapon he hasn't seen before).
He wants to kill demons for revenge, of course, but he also wants to destroy them so that nothing like what happened to him would happen to anyone ever again. That's why in the game, he shows distaste towards UAC. He deems demons a bigger problem than energy depletion on Earth. That must mean something. Plus, he saved VEGA, an AI, and I doubt he would do that if he was just for revenge.
