A JD Review: MLP Season 8 Episode 15 - "The Hearth's Warming Club" · 5:41pm Aug 9th, 2018

The one where Gallus was an orphan before Scootaloo.

Oh, and someone shoved a pole up Twilight's butt.

ALT RIGHT! Another episode coming quicker than expected! Awesome! And it was better than episode 14! Even better! In the Hearth's Warming Club, we see that someone has ruined the Hearth's Warming Tree with a little prank that spreads purple goo all over the room, and then Twilight, Rainbow, and Spike confront the Young Six to see if one of them were responsible. I loved this episode! I especially enjoyed all the stories the Young Six shared (Ocellus' was the best) and we even got to see a little bit more into Gallus' character, which is great because he's my favorite amongst them.

Turns out, Gallus never had a family back in Griffonstone, which means this is our first confirmed MLP character who's an orphan. He was the one to ruin the tree because he wanted to spend more time with his friends, those he could actually call his family. Incredibly touching. Fantastic moment.

Also, why was Twilight being such a jerk to the students? Sure, it was messed up what Gallus did, but threatening all of the students to not be able to go home to their families for the holidays is just mean. Punish them after the holidays or something. That was the only aspect of the episode I didn't really like. Everything else was perfect.

9/10. Awesome episode. What were your thoughts?

Seems that Twilight has indeed gotten more rigid since opening the school. The same thing happened in Episode 12: “Marks for Effort”; Twilight accused the CMC of trying to sabotage Cozy Glow by teaching her the wrong answers for her test, because Twilight wouldn’t let them attend the school. Instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt, or even giving them a chance to explain, she just banned them from the school and the students.

Could be she stressed from trying to run a school, or perhaps, given that it hasn’t been that long since the school was opened, that’s she’s still learning how to best run it, properly.

And we know, that from time to time, she forgets that she’s supposed to be the Princess of Friendship. :twilightblush:

Other than that, enjoyed the episode. I give it an 8/10.

The writers have gotten a bit lazy with Twilights characters that gave her terrible judgment

Not much to say other than agree that this was a good episode and fit the holiday spirit... even though it’s summer.

I think with Rainbow’s line that they figured it was Gallus after he confessed is saying that Twilight knew who really did it and was just giving him the chance to confess on his own. I doubt she was really going to punish everybody.

This episode aired before our burr season even comes? Hey, that's not cool, Jesus, Equestria, Jesus.

That's after that scuffle in her time on Earth with Cap, you're being a bitch, McHornhead, if you're the Princess of Friendship, then why you use threatening force against your students? Why did you developed such a subpar judgement? lemme guess, adopted some traits from Stark right? I give you the middle finger, not okay, ya winged dinkhead, not cool.

That's it, Twily Stankle, you're now in Santa or whatever the hell you call your Santa in your Xmas ripoff, in his naughty list, he or your idol Star Swirl will give ya dull, black coal this Hearth's Warming/Xmas when it comes, cuz as far as his eye can see, he's not very happy about you did.

It's all because of her association with Stark and his team, kidnapping by Crossbones, and the Civil War with her friends.

Alas, I give this a 7/10, great holiday episode, but as for Twilight, I'd say on a scale of 1 to 10, I give her a -1.

4917263 The stress is definitely getting to her. :twilightoops:

4917334 That would make sense, I guess. Twi was still mean, though. :fluttercry:

4917706 Wouldn't want to see that running straight at me in a dark hallway in the middle of the night. :rainbowderp:

I don’t know I didn’t see her being too bad. Especially compared to how she handled the CMC when she accused them that one episode. Maybe that’s why I’m not to bothered by it I thought she handled this much better than in the CMC episode.

I think she did/was better here than with the CMC to be honest. I personally don't think she was really going to punish all of them for real, but that's just me!

Yah I didn't really get that much with punishment but still great episode Gallus became my favorite not because he is an orphan but why he messed up the star.

Yes Ocellus was my favorite especially with them literally singing carols

Also pretty all I know about Scootaloo (even though this might not be cannon) is that she lived with her Aunts, but that still doesn't mean her parents are dead, but isn't AppleJack BigMac and Applebloom technically orphans, their parents actually did die but we don't know how. Even if Scootaloo is an orphan wouldn't that mean Sweetie Belle is the only CMC that has parents? Okay I am getting way too distracted.

Overall I loved the episode 19/20

i'd give this a 9 out of 10 too i probably would have made this a 10 if twilight didn't seem out of character with that potentially illegal shit

4918130 Oh, yeah. Forgot about the Apples. Then again, they still have Granny Smith.

4918217 Hallway, but considering my sleeping habits, I'd probably end up in an alley someway. :derpytongue2:

True and Grand Pear, technically they still have grandparents
