You know I've been struggling for a very long time to find an outlet for my creativity. I've masked the desire many times in my life by getting involved in things that take up my time (the whole anime scene, binging Netflix, school, etc.) For a while in my life, I tried making a comic. I kept up with it for a little over a year, but I couldn't handle my own inability to draw. Sure I improved over the course of the year, but only from explosive diarrhea to solid poop.
Then in 2008 I discovered YouTube. I was hooked. I wanted to make videos. I bought a shitty camera and tried a few things. That wasn't gonna work either. I wasn't comfortable enough to actually record anything in public. Plus I never had any good ideas. AND I'm actually pretty boring when I'm talking to a camera.
Then in 2011, I found a song: I'll Fly Higher by acoustimandobring (pony?) Cant link it currently as I'm typing This on my phone. It was amazing. And it turned my life in a completely different direction. Then, after a few more songs, I tried my hand at making some music. And it wasn't awful. I even got some good feedback. Trouble was, at this point I had a wife and baby on the way. I was able to do some stuff, but eventually it was just too time consuming to actually do.
Fast forward to last November. NaNoWriMo. I decided I was gonna write something. I wasn't worried about the word count, but I gave myself the goal of finishing the story before the end of the month. And I accomplished that goal. I felt really proud of myself. And it didn't get in the way of my family or other obligations.
And now I'm here. Two stories up. Well, one story and the main part of a second. And things look good from where I'm at. I've got proof readers working on my next little installment and it should be up soonish.
So thanks for reading my ramblings. Give yourself a cookie if you read through this whole thing. :D
