After reading several Spike-centered fics (i don't want to point fingers) I still fail to understand why authors often turn Rarity into negative character just because she rejects Spike. It's often accompanied by comments from readers like "Bitch! He does so much for you and you dared to reject him!? How could you!?! Burn her!".
I have a shocking truth for people like that. If you help some girl it doesn't automatically mean that she obliged to become your girlfriend, have sex with you, share her wealth and so on. Same if you give her some presents. It looks like that this idea just too hard for some people.
I can't remember where I saw it, but the greatest version of this I ever saw was Spike asking Rarity why she wouldn't date him, and her going on a hilarious rant about not wanting their first date to be in prison.

Well yes, this too. As far as I remember Big Jim said that while in "pony years" Spike is "16-22" (which mean that Twilight age at minimum is twenty-three and at maximum twenty-freaking-nine?) in "dragon years" he is only 10-12 years old. So it looks that dragon mature slowly that ponies and I'm pretty sure that Rarity isn't into pedophilia.
PS. Huh... If Twilight twenty-nine years old... Isn't that mean that Shining almost forty years old?
4888900 I always figured Twilight was 11 years older than Spike, since she looks that old when she hatches him.
I don't know about his exact age, but I do know like 3 or 4 years ago the writers explicitly told some Sparity shippers at a con it was never going to happen because "Spike is a child." I think he's just a really precocious child, like Ender Wiggin or a male Dakota Fanning.

4889638 The problem with that is that from the Sonic Rainboom episode, it's pretty clear Applejack's parents are already dead when the Sonic Rainboom goes off and the Mane 6 get their cutie marks. If Bright Mac and Pear Butter are already dead, then Apple Bloom must have already been born. So however old Spike is, Apple Bloom has to be older than him. And few people think Apple Boom seems like she is older than 17.

Um, as far as I know at the time of Rainboom both parents still alive and kicking. When user asked Big Jim about AJ parents in "Where the apple lies" he said that "he assumed that they on vacation". Also there I'd no sign of Apple Bloom in flashback, so its looks like that at this point she not even born yet.
So... Spike several years older that CMC?
