me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Been a hell of a ride, honestly. I just apologize for dragging it on for so long.

Quickie Reviews · 1:14am Jun 17th, 2018

Okay, more quickie reviews, this time of several stories. First up, Reconciliation by xd77.

Now this one? I'm sorry, but there's... Well, at least in my opinion anyways, it felt like there was no real depth to this story. Just Twilight going to apologize to the CMC and going through the motions. And before anyone cries it's only 1,120 words, bull. I've seen quite a few authors do more with even less of a word count.

4/10

Take for example this next story I'm about to put under the spotlight so to speak.

Nostalgic, by Rose Quill

Now, this one is a bit tough to describe, as sensual stuff isn't really my forte I'll be the first to admit. But it, like the story above has only slightly over 1,000 words and yet manages to do so much more. It's short, sweet, and doesn't really tell any more than it needs to. And, unlike the story above I actually felt like I was in the places of the characters, getting into their mindsets.

The only drawback, is like Jay David's stories, it's part of a larger continuity so the risk of feeling lost somewhere along the way may occur. I'm not a fan of these types of things, I admit. If you're going to do a series of quick, one-off stories within the same canon, why not just do a miniseries or a compilation story? Granted, I'll give the author the benefit of the doubt here and guess that something like this happening was never planned.

7/10

Okay, next fic. Now, this is a bit of an interesting case. Not too long ago, I reviewed a certain fic by Lightningsword, and to say I... disliked it would be a bit of an understatement. However, it and the rest of his Steam series inspired a similar, much less sexual series more focused on fluffy stuff by Noryrd. Dunno if I got his name right, I can never spell it. Agh, anyways. The fic. It's titled: A Cupcake for your Thoughts.

Now, unlike with Lightningsword's portrayal of Pinkie, she didn't, at least not here come across as too annoying, nor did she do what could be called sexual harassment, Here, this fic balanced her obnoxiousness and her constant perky I'm going to make you smile and like it demeanor with her other emotions. Pinkie's a hard character to grasp as you have to balance her cheeriness with her less shown emotions like her insecurities shown in Party of One without her coming across as annoying as all hell. God knows there's I've almost never written Pinkie in any of my stories. Thankfully, Nor pulled off Pinkie quite well here, I think. I'm not an expert, so take that with a grain of salt. Ask Summer Dancer, she'll probably tell you more on Pinkie and her character given she's written at least one very good Pinkie fic in my memory.

Sadly, this suffers the same problem as Lightning's story, so I can't rate it as highly as I could have. While the sexual elements aren't as present, there's still this creepy undertone of the possibility of twenty-somethings like me fapping to teenage girls making out with them. Then again, maybe I'm wrong, and I usually am on certain aspects. Maybe this is somewhat harmless, and is just a comfort thing, and a few people really don't see human Pinkie as their lover. Just, cute harmless fantasy to indulge in. God knows I've had waifus in the past, and for the most part, they're harmless fun.

Still, rating time... Hmm, it's a tough call but I'm willing to say 6/10. Would probably be at least one number higher, but the reasons I mentioned above about the slightly creepy aspect of all this, I can't definitively say.

You reviewed Nordryd! Good to see you're still fair and inclusive. Man, am I still the only author to have managed to pull off a perfect ten by your hands? The fact that I was able to do that is still the highest praise I've deserved on my work. You deserve a break. Go for a good story next time.

Yeah, I thought it was only fair I do Nordryd's version of the story. And as for you, if I reviewed the Summer Dancer story I mentioned, I probably would give that a perfect Ten, except the trouble is with me, it deals with Pinkie's character and that's sorta hard for me to describe. And chances are, I probably will find a good story next time. Already have one in mind, actually.
