So now that the elements have been revealed, Moondancer swayed, and the plans made in triplicate, the only thing left to do is have the long-awaited showdown with Celestia!
It actually took me a long time to decide how this was going to go down. In response to some of the comments, I want to point out that even though our beloved Lunar agents will definitely "win", even with the elements of harmony, this might be a difficult process.
For example, the elements treat each threat to Equestria with a different response. This is discussed a bit by Applejack in the upcoming chapter, but I want to go into more detail. The elements can't be used for war, as far as we know. Luna can't just set the mane six + six in front of Celestia and say "Fire!" So ignoring the elements for a moment, let's point out the advantages of each side:
Celestia: Has two powerful Alicorns, including Cadance, a well-kept secret, as well as a unicorn (Sunburst) she believes to be powerful. Also has the entire royal army of Equestria.
Luna: Has one powerful Alicorn (Nightmare Moon), and no army save for her elite troops of Rainbow, Nightblade, and Shining Armor.
So, given that we can't count the elements, it seems like the forces even out. If Celestia can't use the elements to just "cure" Nightmare Moon, she will be forced into a treaty... exactly what the Lunar Agents are hoping for.
Now, to answer some more questions would be to reveal what I have planned for the chapters after the big showdown. Spoilers are ahead! Read on if you don't mind spoilers and are excited to see what will happen next.
Q (From Malyra Loki Blackheart): Will Shining Armor and Cadance have 'love at first sight'?
A: Nope. I like Cadance/Shiny as much as the next fan, but this is a Rariarmor story. I hope the readers enjoy what does happen though...
Q: If Nightmare Moon takes over Equestria, what would happen?
A: NMM is taking the moral high ground here. In the story it was explained that when Celestia wrested control of Luna's moon, it physically hurt Luna to have her special talent stolen. If Luna succeeds in banishing Celestia to the sun, then she plans to swap Equus' sun with the mostly-equivalent sun she had Twinkleshine find.
Without a sun, Equestria would freeze. Thus, NMM (who is angry, not crazy), plans to merely lessen the hours of day, cool the seasons, and subsidize farmers with specially made greenhouses to compensate for it.
So, I hope that answers your questions, and tides you over until next week, when I publish Showdown, the new chapter!

Oh ho ho, I was waffling back and forth over adding Sunset to the Lunar side or not, although she was always scripted to appear. If she was to join Luna, which I will neither confirm nor deny for the upcoming chapters... It'll be out of sheer spite, because Celestia and Sunset have a seriously awful mentor/student relationship in this fic (and an as-of-yet unrevealed event took place to drive them apart, around the time Twilight was born, something even worse than forbidding her marriage.)
As for Time Turner/The Doctor, he's definitely going to feature as one of the new Lunar converts because no way is he getting funding for his wacky experiments on Equus. Maybe fireless fireworks are an ideal light source in space? I will say though, that a pairing with Ditzy is probably not in the cards.
