Retrograde: A Status Update · 10:49am Jun 6th, 2018
Hey everyone, this is just a quick update post to get into why Retrograde has sort of been quiet, since it's been nearly 2 months since the last update.
The long and short of it is a number of simple things. The first month of wait was mostly due to RQK graduating and then following that up with a vacation. The dude needed a vacation, and because working on something like this would have taken his time away from some well needed R&R, we opted to not worry about it too much, and just address it when we posted the chapter. Obviously, this hasn't happened yet, but given the wait, I felt it necessary to say why the story hasn't seen an update since late April. I was also helping some family and friends get prepared for a wedding during this period of time, which definitely had an impact on my schedule.
Unlike the first month post Chapter 3 release, the past month of delays is mostly due to the fact that we had to seriously rethink how to handle the situation with Crystal's inclusion. It's admittedly taken a little longer than initially expected. The reason for this is mostly because we want to avoid a similar debacle to the last chapter, and it meant we had to re-evaluate things going forward, and how to address several things about how we're going to handle questions on the subjects. I won't bore you with semantics (seeing as the overly formal way I've been writing this is probably putting you all to sleep), but needless to say, it's kind of complicated.
So the big question is obviously "when is chapter 4 coming out?" The short answer is "Soon, hopefully." The long answer? It's sitting at about 85-90% complete, and the aim is for a release within the next two weeks. There are just 2 or 3 scenes that need to be finished, and then editing needs to happen, so it shouldn't be too long a wait now.
The next question I'm sure you have is "will Chapter 5 take this long?" Honestly, the best answer I can give there is "hopefully not." The fact of the matter is I'm working on a few things outside of this, and RQK has also been hard at work with his upcoming story, "Divergence." As far as I'm concerned, I see Divergence as the more important project for him to focus on, as this was never meant to be anything but a fun collab project. I have plans for Chapter 5, and so it should only take... half as long as this chapter is taking, at the absolute most. Y'know, unless something major comes up. Seriously though, Chapter 5 will come out within a month of Chapter 4 if all goes well, and given what is planned for Chapter 5, I'm stoked to work on it.
Anyway, that's it for now. Sorry for the delay, but you won't have to wait much longer.
Do what you by guys need to do, I'm just glad this story isn't abandoned or canceled like the other Sunlight stories!
