Eqestria's magic would be childish and weak to Fate considering the mana that is available to both. Fate having less due to the people waning in ability. Eqestria has a huge advantage (and laziness) with magic due to the amount and often brute force things to happen.
(edit) Oh you asked time wise, the amount is for would be along the timeline of age of gods in fate, however the actually spell craft while would line up for the age, it isn't as grand or power as Fate's spell casters of that time.
I don't know. I think it would go to a good mid range in comparison to Fate magic. It's more intuitive being thought based but less powerful. An item raises that form of magic to high levels acting like a focus channeling more mana. Since Equestria doesn't have very many focusing artifacts at best it's a mid range spell system.
Also yes they are very lazy with creating new spells.

i see... bit what about the whole moving the sun and moon? or how equestria magic can defying the law of nature while the fate verse mostly are grounded with a lot of ground rules.
(i hope i'm not coming off as if i'm arguing. just trying to make sense of fate magic because it seems to have a lot of contradicting rules)

have they made any new spells in the show? i haven't seen season 8 yet, but last time i saw the show it seemed like they are still piggybacking off of other people's work. for someone with the talent of magic and the element of magic, twilight doesn't seem to really TRY creating spells.

Again this isn't due to magic itself and seems to be a connections like a god of the sun would have with his sun, allowing for ease of movement. When the Unicorn moved it, it stated to be a group and with no explanation on how they did it the spell work is unknown thus is hard to use as a example. As I said it seems like all the magic in MLP is brute force, inefficient due to the lack of need for efficiency. Where Fate you always needed it even when magic was abundant it was needed to counter or at least hold off beings far more powerful.

There hasn't been any real spellcrafting. And there is something to say that most magic is geared towards specialized fields meaning that there isn't any one source of spell crafting with spells being fix and worked off of throughout the series. Star Swirl is still the only working mate who finds new spells.
