A little more than 12000 words and with this Starlight is gone from the story for a chapter or two. Which honestly doesn't sound like a lot, but after realizing that could mean anywhere from 12,000 to now 24,000 words where there is not a hint of Starlight, that's going to be a while.
I was planning for the Canterlot section to be short since the show doesn't often go there. And when they do, its often a Rarity episode which usually focuses on the aristocrats. Not three to four chapters short, but it seems with the slowly increasing length of chapters, it tends to happen.
Also the final Starlight scene in the chapter was 90 percent planned out once Starlight entered the story. Literally went "why is she here and what's her plans and what is truly her morals in this story" cause a morally grey, quick to anger Starlight still would have some good in her somewhere. I mean writing a villain without some attempt at depth feels weird now.
Canterlot wrap up next chapter or two (probably one due to how much I put in these chapters) and then Starlight Village time. So while the arc feels "done" it's more like the downer point and a bit of respite from Starlight. But hey at least this chapter got development for Rarity. That's a high point.
And had a bad month and so I feel like this chapter got way more dark and melodramatic than what I completely planned cause of that. Nothing really changed, but the tone got a lot less jokey than I expected before writing. I mean before the Wonderbolt characters would have really at least said something fun. Final product? They are nowhere to be seen.
Also cause I'm leaving for a family get together over the weekend, I am spending this week and however long it takes to get back as a break.
I need a bit of that.
well then i'll have to give it a go. Yea, two big chapters is a lot. makes for a real sit down and read for a bit on my end too.
While Im not writing as many words as you are, im at least working on some new stuff. Mostly Flutterdash..

I definitely don't keep trying to write long chapters, it kind of just happens at this point ever since realizing biweekly updates are way too much on my schedule. It's like getting two chapters at once I guess.
