I saw Ready Player One · 4:13am Apr 13th, 2018

I haven't nerded out this much in years. I am actually worn out from this movie. It was a ride and I loved every minute of it. It was stuffed full with so many things that I doubt anyone would be able to catch all of them in one sitting.

Other than that. It's been a good day. Published the new chapter for The Misadventures of a Fox, then I got picked up by Mike and we hung out a bit before the movie. Payne showed up and we ended up watching the last two episodes of Dragon Ball Super and the first episode of the new GGO Anime. Which was awesome. We had to go pick up Lex. Then we say the movie.

And now I am home. It's been a full day.

Tomorrow's going to be fun. Supposedly we're supposed to have 50 mile an hour winds and snow. It was already super windy raining when I got home too. We'll have to see.

What's GGO? Also I'm super jealous you got to see Ready Player 1, it looks SO FUCKING GOOD.

Gun Gale Online which first appearing in Sword Art Online.

I'm sorry, are they seriously making an entire anime based on something that takes up roughly half the first season of SAO 2? That's just plain lazy and stupid.

Yu do know there's quite a bit of Manga and Light Novels that expand on it right? The GGO anime is next in line to be made in canon, or so I'm told.

If you read the book don't watch the movie if you watch the movie read the book. That is all.
Edit: after thinking about it for a second I feel like every book fan ever when the movie comes out afterwards but seriously they didn't just change a few things to save on time they completely rewrote the entire first chapter

I've read the book five times and I loved the movie.

Ernest Cline worked on the movie with the writer and director, and changed many things so it could fit a cinematic experience. This was a better than a direct book-to-movie adaptation would be. I think of it like Game of Thrones, the books are amazing and the show is amazing, things had to be changed from book to show in order for it to work as a tv show.

Well now I feel like an asshole. I knew going into it that they would have to change a lot but I didn't realize just how much they were changing I could point out specifics but they contain spoilers so I won't unless you specifically asked me to. One thing to note for anybody is that this is a prime example of differing opinions. I still thought it was a decent movie in general but was disappointed by certain specific extreme changes and of us let that decide my opinion of the movie. The wonderful Sanguine Dream love both the book and the movie for reasons only they could tell you. Just wanted to point out the difference sorry for preaching at you.:twilightsheepish:

Oh that's perfectly fine. I may be a purist in something but i can understand that something had to be changed for it to fit a movie better. Secondly some of the changes were needed or were, in some cases, better than the book. Also it contained the Spirit of the novel, especially with all of the references.

This is true and well one of my biggest problems was the race I have to admit it was extremely cool even still!

4839267
I happened to love the race. While the first challenge in the novel would be awesome, It would've required a lot of build up, and the movie really didn't have much room for it.

I saw Ready Player One on Tuesday, A Quiet Place on Wednesday, and saw Rampage last night.

What did you think of Rampage?

If you go in with the mentality of “It’s an action-adventure ‘1950s B-movie campy creature feature’-inspired flick starring The Rock”, then you will be fine. The plot is silly and nonsensical, and the main villains are cartoonish, but the monsters are fun, the last 3rd of the movie is one big feast for the eyes of wanton destruction, and Dwayne Johnson is a treat as usual, so I would recommend it as a fun no-brainer of a popcorn summer movie. :pinkiehappy:

That's what I thought. It's a popcorn movie, not much more is needed.
