Deities of AssassinationVerse: Seremora Goddess of Sirens · 1:18am Apr 6th, 2018

8. Seremora, Goddess of Sirens

The only other deity that is universally hated is Seremora, as she is personally responsible for the entire death of the Wolf race and the coma of its goddess, Ashina. Long before her fall, Seremora was obsessed with the concept of beauty and the arts. It was said that she inspired her Sirens to be the greatest of singers, sculptures, and designers of various clothing upon creating them in the deep oceans. The reason she choose the sea was that she found it to be large, beautiful, and mysterious. Since no other race could breathe underwater like the Sirens, they were undisturbed by those who lived among the lands above. While Sirens were seen here and there by those on the shores or traveling by sea, they were mostly peaceful creatures who entertained sailors with song and water magic. Sirens were peaceful by nature, preferring to focus on culture and their personal passions.

Seremora had close relationships with the other deities as well such as Fausticorn, Amanari, and Ashina, her best friend. The Wolf Goddess and Siren Goddess both loved their respective natures (forest for the wolf and water for the siren) to the point where both declared themselves to be sisters. However, over time the Sirens grew into further passions of… pleasure. Its unknown how it all started, but eventually sexuality became a big factor in the society of the Sirens who engaged in various sexual actions, some of which involving multiple partners. Other vices soon followed such as an obsession of beauty to match one’s pride, mass feasts and drinking, and special plants that, when mixed with certain chemicals, could make one feel great. At first Seremora had disproved of such things, but upon seeing how happy her creations were, she decided to try it out for herself. Becoming mortal for a time, she engaged in the acts and soon became reveled in them. Things she never felt as a goddess that she felt as a mortal was an eye-opening experience to her. Soon, she dedicated her entire people to the acts of hedonism and pleasure. Other gods and goddess saw this as degrading, trying to convince Seremora that she and her people were taking things too far, but the Siren Goddess was too obsessed with her pleasure… until she found a new experience that would change everything.

One day, a bunch of Yak whale hunters saw some Sirens resting on some rocks and killed them just out of pleasure. Seremora was outraged and sent a storm that crashed the ship and killed the crew. However, she wanted more revenge and demanded to Uthur, God of Yaks, that he give their souls to her for punishment. Uthur, who had long become disappointed by his creations and their violent ways, agreed. With their souls in her procession, Seremora tried to think of a proper punishment for them. It was unknown how she got the idea, but she took one soul… and ate it.

It was unlike anything she had ever tasted in her entire life. It tasted… divine.

She began to eat the other souls, who were cursed to be digested in her body for eternity, their wails and cries of pain brought her pleasure like she had never felt before. She needed more. More souls to feed. More of its luscious taste. She knew the other gods would never agree to let her take the souls of their dead. That left only her own. She changed the afterlife of her people. Where once they were welcomed into a golden city of heavily underwater wonder, now they would rest in her belly upon death. Each deceased Siren would end up devoured by their goddess and join the many thousands upon thousands in her bottomless stomach, crying out for mercy while digesting for eternity.

However, Mordum, Creator God of Death, began to feel something was wrong. He heard the voices of tens of thousands of souls crying out in terror and pain, but couldn’t tell where they were from. No afterlife that he checked had them, but he sensed they were coming from the sea itself. He asked Ashina to check Seremora, but when she did she was horrified to find her eating souls of recently deceased Sirens. Seremora begged Ashina not to tell anyone else, but she would hear none of it. Her friend was sick and needed help and declared she would get the Creator Gods to help her. In anger of this betrayal, Seremora decided to get revenge by creating the biggest tidal wave the world had ever seen. So big that it covered the entire content of Lupus Terra, sending it into the sea with a might crash. Every wolf, child, adult, and elder drowned to death and their souls swallowed by Seremora who had soon lost her mind to the craving of souls soon after. So much so that she even enter the afterlife of the wolves and devoured the entire Star Pack too. She would have continued had not the Creator Gods intervened and put a stop to her.

Horrified by her loss of her creations, who she saw as her children, a great wail unlike anything ever known was heard throughout the mortal and god realms before Ashina tearfully fled into the moon where she wept for her loss until she fell asleep in tears and shock which her fate to this day. The stars that she once decorated that fall are her tears that mourn for her lost race. When ever thing had been revealed, all the gods were outraged and demanded punishment for Seremora. It was even brought up the possibility of ending her entire existence. However, the souls in her stomach were still trapped and destroying her would destroy them as well. With no other choice, Seremora was bound in heavy chains to the deepest bottom part of the ocean where she shakes and screams to this day, causing storms and tidal waves in her fury.

Her creations, having realized what they had done, were ashamed and soon feared and hated among sailors. This caused the civilization to collapse and spread into different cities with different goals in mind. However, to avoid their ill fate of being eaten by their goddess upon death, the sirens created soul stones. Upon their death, the siren souls would be trapped into the soul stone where it would sleep in a dreamless state. The stone would be protected in the cities “Tree of Passing” where soul stones rest in their slumber while the bodies of the dead are preserved in glass casing. Should a soul stone ever be destroyed, the soul will be feasted by a hungry and insane Seremora. However, the Deers gave the Sirens a prophesy: One day Ashina will awaken and her forgiveness will save their race.

Standing With Other Gods: Once she was respected and close friends with several gods, including Ashina. Now she is hated and pitied for how far she has fallen.

Looks: Before her fall, she was a graceful lavinatiahn with multiple colored scales that glittered in the water. Now she is fat with souls, void of color, and her once great beautiful something that would make Cthulhu think is sexy.

Religious Structure: Originally, her worship was just like the Eldar of Warhammer 40K worshiping their gods. (If you haven’t guesses Seremora is based on Slaanesh) Now they don’t even dare speak her name out of fear of her. They just call her “The Hungry One”

Afterlife: Originally, all the souls of the deceased Sirens went to a golden palace underwater until it was destroyed by Seremora and its occupants eaten. Now, out of fear of being eaten by her, they trap their souls in soul stones and sleep until the Day of Forgiveness.

Wow. I guess not even gods are free from the taints and evils of the mortal races.

man, what a bitch

The title says Seramora, but the text says Seremora.

Why do I feel that this was going to be one of Twilight’s goals in life?

I thought the Yak's god name was Yusha. I read it in Grandus's bio. Also the siren god's name was Udine from Seprum Cain's bio. Were these names working titles?

Religious Structure: Originally, her worship was just like the Eldar of Warhammer 40K worshiping their gods. (If you haven’t guesses Seremora is based on Slaanesh)

figured that out pretty quickly. Don't know if this was related or not but in AoS were Slaanesh has been captured and chained up they are coming out with a race of sea elves.

However, the Deers gave the Sirens a prophesy: One day Ashina will awaken and her forgiveness will save their race.

possible hook for Ragnarok maybe...:trixieshiftright:

You would think that the combined powers of all the other gods - or at least those who were disgusted by Seremora's actions - would be enough to free all those souls she had eaten. Having them continue to suffer through no fault of their own, especially the wolf souls, is especially cruel. Oblivion sounds better than that.

Typo

Didn't like those names so I changed them. I plan on going back and fixing them after work

Also the numbering of the gods was a miscount. Sarga is actually the 8th god you revealed while Seremora was the 9th. Minor error, don't think about it too hard.

Well she became a mortal temporarily and interacted with other mortals, which made her vulnerable to such whims.

How does one god invade the afterlife of another, you’d think countermeasures would be in place

Because they thought they could at least trust each other

As if this setting didn't have enough Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy.
