A little change in pace. · 11:10pm Oct 25th, 2012
Fan fiction is a strange, and sometimes wondrous being. One day it could be the thing that consumes your thoughts, then the other can be a mere ghost that haunts you for negligence. It has its advantages and its disadvantages, but its main purpose is to be entertaining and most importantly fun for the author. This is where my old plan dies.
Over the past few months as I ready myself for school, I have been toiling away at an outline for Hoennshy. Outlines are massive time sinks, yet beneficial for emerging stories (not just fan fiction, but for original works as well) and consistency for stories in development. Unfortunately, they are also tiring and killer if you are already half way through a particular story. Treading the past fifteen chapters has not been fun in the slightest. Whenever I would think of working on the outline, my original story plot would come creeping up and nagging me to work on it, or an illustration I need to work on.
This nearly killed Hoennshy.
I have written sixteen chapters without an outline and had a blast doing so and planning came organically except for mechanical. The new plan is to leave the meticulous planning for my graphic novel project, and keep the free flowing writing to fan fiction, something that nets me only practice. With the outline scrapped, the ending may take a little longer if things don't wrap up like I need them, but the way things are going, you shouldn't need to worry about it. I did gain some more ideas for story links, and the rewrites for chapters one and two are nearly finished. Those will affect the story as a whole, so they will be included.
Another thing I will do is separate non-mane six point-of-view chapters from each chapter going forward. The chapters have blown up to a ridiculous amount as of late, and I want to fix it. It will even make updates go quicker! (If the point-of-view directly affects the main characters, it will be added. Just be aware that chapters may be a bit wacky going forward.)
Hopefully with these changes/non-changes, Hoennshy will remain fun for me to do which should translate you everyone else enjoying themselves more. This story is for fun and practice, and if I can't take a hold of both, its future may be in question. Thanks for reading this mess and Hoennshy; updates should be coming in shorter time than expected.
I also lost my job, so I have a few months before I head back to school. It sucks, but whatever. If you must know why I will update faster, now you know.
Although it's always nice to have more time on your hands, I'm sorry to hear about your job. Good luck finding a new one, or doing what you want do instead.
Sorry to hear about your job. Take as long as you need for Hoennshy.
