Demeter's Plant
Demeter: Demeter In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Demeter (/dɪˈmiːtər/; Attic: ΔημήτηρDēmḗtēr, pronounced [dɛːmɛ́ːtɛːr]; Doric: ΔαμάτηρDāmā́tēr) is the goddess of the harvest and agriculture, who presided over grains and the fertility of the earth.
Her plant is a myth to most but is a reality. Demeter was asked by Zeus to give a tribute to the world as he gave his lightning and Poseidon gave his water etc. She did not want to part with her most beloved plant so she took a leaf from it and planted it. When the time came for her to give her gift the leaf had grown into a beautiful plant. Zeus believed it must be the original and let her give it to the creatures of the earth. The plant was not as ordinary as Demeter thought though. Those who have encountered it have become mesmerized by a song it plays. It soothes the mind and forces creatures to succumb to a deep sleep under the plant. The plant then feeds off the remains.
