Andy and Pinkie Pie - The Mechanics and Relationship: Is There Anything Between Them? · 11:35pm Mar 12th, 2018
I have to say this openly about this 'series' and say right off of the bat that there isn't actually a planned order in which it plays out. When I refer to it as a 'series', I'm implying that they all have the same characters and themes going on, but there isn't actually a chronological order that they play in that sets it up as an anthology or something of that kind.
It's simply a random spouting of stories that have no true bonds in how they come across with each release. In short, Andy and Pinkie Pie is only a short series of stories that don't have a fixed point to them. They are utterly spontaneous in their releases in the fact that they seemingly come out of nowhere.
In terms of relationships, I keep getting a comment from one of the readers asking me to do a story where it's their wedding day, and here's my thoughts on that comment - I would, but no. No, I don't really think it would be that good of an idea because Andy and Pinkie Pie are not romantically involved with each other. Besides, human/pony marriage is so overdone that it became a cliche in the brony community. With that in mind, I don't plan to add anything like that.
Their relationship is much like Dom's and Rainbow Dash's in Defiled Loyalty, where the human and the pony have a strong bond of friendship between them yet they have a very platonic romance thing going on. There are some things that are implied, but I don't like it when it always turns out that if a girl gets a friend who happens to be a boy, they end up shagging. I mean, come on, it happens practically everywhere, even in real life! Seen it, been involved with some girls who had nothing on their mind but sex, and in the end, it's always the same thing. It's a weird thing to try and explain to the fullest, so I'll just go ahead and skip that talk. It's not really something I want to get into right now. Or ever.
Anywho, Pinkie Pie may like Andy, but all it involves is friendly jokes and harmless fun. Andy is just a human that doesn't really like the fact that he has been forced from his home and he can't stop thinking about leaving Equestria. He smokes because he is stressed, he swears because he is angry, he hates being annoyed and being around talkative ponies such as Pinkie Pie because he is anti-social, and most of all, he is simply tired and worn out because he is alone in the world.
Being the only human in Equestria is something that is hard to emphasise with other ponies in Ponyville because nobody else is a human. They don't know who he is, how he might be feeling or what he could be thinking. Because of that, he has nobody to relate to. That makes him sad. It makes him hate everything around him in the sense that he finds most things frustrating. However, being in Equestria for two years and a few months, Andy has found a strong bond with Pinkie Pie, who happens to be his best friend.
Without her, he wouldn't have anything - no money, no friends, no social life, no shelter, no bed, etc. Because of Pinkie, Andy has some form of coping with how he is tied into her life. Over the time of knowing him, Pinkie is able to sympathize with Andy because she has an understanding of loneliness and what it can bring. She is the only pony in Equestria that can have such a strong understanding and rapport with Andy for what she has experienced for herself in her younger years.
In a way, you could say that Pinkie is Andy's crutch and shoulder to lean on. Sure, Andy might be a bit aggressive towards her, but he knows she means well. He couldn't ever be mad at her for anything she's done because Andy feels like he owes her his life and his gratitude for all he has. Without her, he'd be nothing and he'd have nothing. It may sound like a warm and implied romance, but it's nothing more than a platonic relationship.
