Fear of God vs. being afraid of God · 2:03am Feb 21st, 2018
I think we've all heard of the Fear of God. But what's the difference between such a fear and being afraid of God? And why are we told so many times to not be afraid while being told to fear God?
The difference is this; Fearing God in a Biblical sense means to show Him love, awe, reverence, and respect. However, a believer should not be afraid of God in the sense of being paralyzed by fright. That kind of fear actually prevents the believer from coming closer to God and knowing Who He is. Not to mention that Jesus Himself said, over and over again, "Do not be afraid."
I literally saw the message above at school (though not with that particular art, if I remember correctly), through which I was inspired to write this blog.
The Old Testament has the same message as the New; Don't be afraid. Note that I'm not encouraging defiance toward God; far from it. We should Love and worship Him. We ought to do so without being scared out of our wits. We ought to go forward with courage for the day.
Thank you for taking the time to read. May God go with you all
Very nicely said
That was a awesome little message and it helped me to see not to be afraid of God bc I was always afraid of him but now I can see to not be afraid. Thank you

Praise be to God, not me. And glad this helped.
Chris Poblete took a book to say what you said in a few paragraphs. Fair play.
