    Christmas 2020

Hello hello everyone. Wow. First blog I made since New Year's... Kind of disappointed on that. Not like I didn't have the time... So, Christmas is just about over for me (it's 8pm for me as I write this) and it was good.

My thoughts on Forgotten Friendship · 3:13am Feb 18th, 2018

Yeah, I know, a lot of people talked about this special, but I just can't resist. For the very few people who find this blog and don't know about it, the special is set in EqG and is about everyone forgetting about Sunset's reformation except for Sunset herself, and she has to find the culprit. That's about it. I'll be discussing more in the rest of the blog, so don't continue if you don't want spoilers.

I guess the first thing to discuss is what I thought of the plot. Overall, I'm find with it. As far as I know, it's pretty original. Then again, my memory isn't always the best, so it probably isn't original. Either way, still decent.

Next I guess I should talk about the characters. I'd say I'm happy that Sunset was the main character, but that's rather obvious. Rather sorry for her having to go through all the reminders of her old self. I don't know what's worst. Her own friends constantly reminding her of her past when she was still recovering from it in Rainbow Rocks, or everyone outright hating her, including them. ...when I say that out loud, it's obvious which is worst... Anyway, the rest of the group was fairly decent. Nothing to complain about, since their hostility was based on their memories being altered/stolen. Trixie was actually pretty good. I really liked that. If chapter 26 of SiE didn't make it obvious, I'm a fan of Trixie. I liked the idea that Trixie was lonely, but too proud to admit it. At least, that's what it looked like to me. But her actually befriending Sunset, even when she doesn't remember Sunset's reformation, was beautiful in my opinion. The two actually working together and bonding was something that I couldn't help but smile at. And the fact that they were still friends in the end was great. Now, for the newcomer, Wallflower Blush. Wow... I... I can't help but feel sorry for her. I mean, I know what that's like, being ignored and no one noticing your existence. Most of my middle school days was the exact same. The difference being that I preferred that. Better that than people knowing me and hating me. I had serious low esteem. *ahem* Anyway... Yeah, I just felt sorry for her. I mean, Sunset and the girls completely forgot she was in the room with them mere moments after they talked to her and she mentioned how she's known them for years. I mean, Sunset not noticing her at first makes sense since she was a complete bitch for a while, and Trixie not noticing also makes sense because, well, it's Trixie. But NOBODY even acknowledging her existence, ignoring her, while she's in the sidelines, all alone? That's just sad. Though, her attempting to erase the Rainbooms of ALL their high school memories is definitely overkill. Speaking of which, I dare you to tell me you didn't feel sorry for Sunset when she took that blast. I'm not gonna lie, I almost cried. Then there's the part where she's all alone and confused, not remembering where she was, or what was going on. It just made my heartache. Luckily though, Wallflower learned her lesson, and seemed to be getting a little more popular, with Sunset even giving her a year book that people actually signed for Wallflower. Though, I wonder how she got that to happen. How did she get people to pay attention to Wallflower after years of noticing her? *shrug* It's still pretty nice. Now, there is one more character that's worth talking about. But I'll discuss that later. Pretty sure a lot of people are going to pissed that she was forgiven, but they seem to foget the name of the show is "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. The fact that there are any irredeemable characters is a surprise in my opinion. And I'm rambling...

Next, I guess I'll talk about the thing with Clover the Clever and the Memory Stone. Not bad. It is nice that is isn't something related to Starswirl this time, but another pony who had an important role in Equestria's history. Though, I was rather surprised about the reveal that Clover is a stallion instead of a mare. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who was surprised by that. Though, he really is Starswirl's apprentice. Just like his teacher before him, he dumped something VERY dangerous from Equestria into EqG. Except, this time I don't understand. I may have missed something, but why the he'll didn't he just destroy the damn thing? That way, it wouldn't be used to hurt anyone again, or used in the wrong hands. Or, at the very least, why did he leave the instructions with it? For a pretty clever guy, that seems pretty stupid.

Now, for one of the things I've been waiting for for years. Sunset returning to Canterlot and finally apologizing to Celestia for what she did all those years ago. And Celestia simply replies that she missed Sunset. Not gonna lie, I constantly shouted "FINALLY" when I saw that. It's one of the 3 things I've wanted to see since I became a fan of Sunset. The other two was Sunset returning to Equestria, which happened in this special and Mirror Magic, and Sunset actually becoming an alicorn. That may not happen, but a guy can dream.

Well, that's about it. I may or may not do this again with the S8 premiere in a month, but who knows. Until next time.
