While i figure out the Storm King... · 2:18am Jan 19th, 2018
I'll also be working on a VERY minor character originally mentioned in the comics.
While my stance on the comics is "mostly non-canon to the show/movie universe unless you want it to be", this hasn't stopped me from taking small bits and pieces of what the comics provide and incorporating it into my headcanon, albeit somewhat tweaked a bit occasionally (the Mirror Universe, the Timbucktu incident, and Tirek's backstory being the main 3).
now, introducing Queen Parabola.
What do we know about her?
-she had a castle
-she had a treasure
-she created the map spider species in order to lead anyone interested to her treasure
and that's it
...So many blank spots and unexplained things! It's BEGGING to be interpreted wildly! so much fun!
What is she? A zebra alicorn?

That would be an okapi, originally a creature from African legends that was the equivalent to the Europian unicorn, but the name was later used to describe an artiodactyl mammal native to the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa known as Okapia Johnstoni, also known as the forest giraffe or zebra giraffe.

Because of that, I imagine you could draw a lot of inspiration from the Queen of Sheba or Queen of the Sabaeans given the location.
4776970 yes, she is an alicorn with some zebra ancestry
4776994 no. Okapi are not equivalent to zebra alicorns in this setting. they're more like native Congo tribes, particularly the Bantu-speaking peoples, as opposed to the Zebras, who draw inspiration from tribes such as the Masai.
In addition to normal Zebras, there are also the Abada, which are unicorn Zebras with two horns (one behind the other), and the Pegasos, what would usually be described as the Ethiopian Pegasus, a pegasus with a pair of antelope-like horns

In what way is that an okapi? It's literally just a zebra with unicorn horn and Pegasus wings.
I know its kinda late, but I just checked the wiki of MLP and I saw that it kinda identifies him as a raiju, it should be noted that it's in early concept art. You can check, it is in his description: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/The_Storm_King
4791157 I know. that's where i got the info
