Greetings Ponera readers! If you aren’t a Ponera reader, then you’ll probably not be interested in anything I’m saying here, but otherwise get some news after the break.
As of about thirty minutes ago, I finished writing the epilogue to “Codex Ponera - Cliffside Eyrie”, and I decided to share this news with you. As things stand right now, I have two more chapters to publish, then the epilogue. However, I’m not entirely happy with the last chapter as is and so I intend to expand and split it into two. If I do that, then the upcoming updates will be:
Chapter Nineteen: January 7th
Chapter Twenty: January 21st
Chapter Twenty One: February 4th
Epilogue: February 18th
After that, then what?
I’d like to start the sequel on the same schedule, posting the prologue on March 4th and carrying on from there, but so far I haven’t even got the plot completely sorted, let alone anything publishable written. By then I would like to have figured out who’s planning what and how these plans all crash together to create the story, but if not then I’ll do another blog post apologising for the delay. In any case, I’ll let you all in on the interludes “Codex Ponera - Equinopolis” will have.
***Note: All spoileriffic stuff is hidden behind spoiler tags, but you can still make perfect sense of the blog without peeking.***
After Gabby’s encounter with the shapeshifters in Bowl Valley, Gilda decides to see to it that Ponera is warned about the possible threat they pose. As such, she and Applejack go on a tour of Ponera aboard an airship captained by an old friend of Rainbow’s.
Essentially, these interludes will be little more than me showing off the world I’ve built - we’ll be seeing the major cities of Ponera, meeting their leaders. We’ll see more about airships, and I’ll go a little into their history, including how airship designs were altered after Soaring Scavenger’s repeated deflations in “Codex Ponera - Cliffside Eyrie”. I may even go a little into the differences between the magic inherent in ponies and the furycrafting they now use.
Given the way I intend to write these interludes, anyone who has no interest in the worldbuilding can simply skip past them - the individual events won’t have any real impact on the overall plot, aside from introducing several characters and locations earlier than would otherwise be possible.
On the other hand, if you like worldbuilding, I’d encourage you to read them as they come - I spent several months figuring out how the world of the Codex Ponera would work, but some details would be unlikely to come up in the main story, and I’m enough of a show-off that I’m making an excuse to, well, show off.
Anyways, I hope that you’re all enjoying the story so far, and until next time, I bid you adieu.
