The bastards are at it again. On December 14th, the FCC will appeal to congress to gut Net Neutrality. This would make the net much more expensive to navigate through. Want to go on youtube? Gotta pay a fee for that. Want to go on, oh, I don't know THIS SITE? Flash some green, Gene.
That's only the start. If Verizon, AT@T and Comcast have their way, then sites that don't churn out what's acceptable politics (...) will be blocked. If you can be told what you can see or read, then it stands that you can be told what to say and think.
Think about that. Really think about it.
What can you do? Well, it only took me two minutes to write to congress and remind them that a bunch of their elections are coming up soon. If they voted to destroy Net Neutrality, I and others would take careful note as to who voted which way and VOTE ACCORDINGLY.

What exactly will this site do with my phone number? I'm not too inclined to give out my phone number willy-nilly, and I'm not exactly in a position to call anyone immediately.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I doubt it would make much difference. After all, I had to provide a number for government sites and health agencies. Dentists, doctors, that sort of thing.
