Seriously, wtf?
Okay, so I devote my weekend, or at least 13 hours of it, to binging my way through the latest marvel Netflix show. after the shitstorm that was inhumans and the bore that was defenders, i'm hoping for something at least mildly entertaining.
I found punisher to be a thought provoking, fun, and ultimately very good series. it is by far my favorite of the marvel Netflix shows, and the only one that I would even consider rewatching. the story lines were all compelling and all converged together by the end. it almost reminds me of the dark knight in that regard. and any time that isn't spent watching frank beat the ever loving shit out of assholes is spent getting to know the characters and solving the mystery/conspiracy. whenever a main character was going into danger, I felt genuine fear for them, the first time I've felt that since I watched rogue one. nothing was wasted, everything had a payoff, some smaller than others, but there.
so, once i'm done watching this fucking fantastic season, well worth my time, I go to look up other people's thoughts-
and apparently everyone fucking hates it.
what and what.
I don't get it. were- was everyone just hoping for 13 hours of non-stop gore fest, with headshots every other second? are people not satisfied by subtle but genuine character exploration and growth? is watching a man struggle with his inner demons not entertaining?
in their first episode reaction, the guys at blindwave on youtube seemed to enjoy the show. but so far, every review and comment I've come across has been about people utterly bashing the season. and I just don't get it. do I want more from the punisher? hell yes! because what we already got was fucking amazing, imo. him, micro, micro's family, the government agents, they were all fantastic.
I just don't get it.
have you guys watched the punisher? please tell me if you enjoyed it. I want to find some positive stuff so there's hope for a season 2.
I liked it too! I don’t understand people’s problem with it! Frank is easily the most broken man I’ve ever seen in fiction and I just want him to be happy!
