Daily Update: Chapter 3: Part 3: The One Where My Computer Deleted 500 words · 8:37am Oct 20th, 2017
That happened. And it was almost the end of a scene. That was about thirty minutes of work lost- though rewiting that section took four hours because I had to psyche myself up again. It sucked because my computer had a freakout and closed the page on me. Didn't think I clicked on anything.
So yeah 5100 words now- and lets just say yesterdays blog helped me with the few scenes I got to write to completion.
Pinkie might be having a change for a while. Dunno if whole story- probably not, but maybe for a few chapters.
That's what happens when you mix spells, kids.
But yeah I made it so I have to use Spike not at all in the story. I have never liked what they tended to do with Spike in the show- either making him act like a child or act like a competent assistant to Twilight and since I like having nice, generally digestible and easily accessible characterizations of characters- I dislike Spike a whole lot. I wanted to like him but he's sort of got a role in some episodes where he's acting like he is representing the audience, or he's being mistreated for comedy, or the main characters are mean to him in some episodes. I see a Spike episode and I guess it might be bad.
But going by the ideas I came up with during typing my last blog- this does tend to be a nice way to reflect and answer things in the story that I haven't been able to exactly figure out yet- we have Twilight being the Research and Development/ Friendship side, Cadance with Emotional things, Luna with Mental/ Dream stuff, and Celestia she's the elemental master. I mean she does control the sun.
Or if you want to focus on the Luna and Celestia two sides to every coin idea- Celestia has a lot of experience with white magic. Luna with black magic.
That's the specialties of the princesses- though there is overlap with Twilight and Cadance- friendship being tied in heavily with emotions.
And since Luna loves having something to do besides dreams and the moon- she's probably a tad bit bored and Celestia wants her to do something other than sulk about how ponies still fear her. Boils down to the idea that Luna needs to get outside and do something.
I mean she doesn't appear much on the show itself anyway- be that the show primarily focuses on daytime adventures or that she's so heavily tied up with Nightmare Moon and Nightmare Night that she doesn't appear much otherwise. I love the Slice of Life episode because it shows that Luna can easily be awake in the daytime and actually has a sisterly bond with Celestia.
Just that little hint. It was nice. And well Luna appears during dream focused episodes to usually help people.
Short answer: Luna is going to be used. Why? Well I like using her for stories. I like Celestia too, but I innately get a pony that deals with guilt and PTSD, and also she's got bad social skills that she's working on, and she dwells on the past. I get the idea of Luna rather well. Just change the mode of speaking and use some old lingo and words and she writes like a charm.
But yeah it gives Twilight something to do. And adding Luna into the mix is rather fun. Could say that Celestia wanted her out of the castle- in my head Luna and Discord don't get along too well. He's a spirit of chaos, she's had acquaintance with corruption.
This is a weird chapter though 5100 words and three scenes currently. I may have a problem. Not a bad problem, just focusing on one story is taking some getting used to. Its relaxing in a way. Sure that seems to make me ramble in the story but feeling like I'm writing the story with enough words and second guessing myself takes out a lot of stress.
