Net Neutrality in jeopardy this Holiday Season. · 8:05pm Oct 18th, 2017
If you enjoy sites like Fimfiction and others that aren't owned by multibillion dollar companies you will definitely want to make your voices heard about this. Ajit Pai and ISPs have pushed off voting on abolishing net neutrality to the holiday season so that they can go through with it while the average American is not looking. Without Net Neutrality the Internet Service Providers whom all have regional monopolies across this country can operate with impunity, extorting any website they want for the privilege of having access to their customer base. Any website that doesn't pay them their extortionary prices will be slowed down to a crawl, making them nearly impossible to navigate for someone using their service. It would effectively turn the internet into cable, where they supply select websites for you to use and not much else. Fan sites like Fimfiction and MLPforums to up and coming small businesses run by entrepreneurs trying to make a living for themselves will be locked out by these gate keepers. It would effectively kill any chance of making a living online unless you are already a multibillion dollar company that can handle paying the ISPs for access. That's not even taking into account exclusive deals, where sites pay for exclusive access to an ISP and keep out their competitors.
This proposition has widespread disapproval across the country and with good reason. You must remain vigilant when it comes to this and make sure your voices are heard to your representatives. Call them often about this, make sure your friends and family know about the gravity of what is going on. If we do become complacent like they are banking on this holiday season, or ability to fight against it in the future will be severely hampered. You can't rally social media if social media is buckling under the crippling fees the ISPs are extorting out of them. Make sure the internet stays Neutral.
Bucking hell, don't they earn enough bloody money.
fuck......the 1% need to die, where is that revolution?! it's been a good couple years since we toppled the 1% when they were just royalty, where is the killing of the billionaires?
