    Small Writing Thing

I participated in another group writing project. You can find it Over here.

I was feeling very cross at the government when I gave Rainbow a metal pipe. I actually love her here though.

    Clang.

Movie Impressions · 4:39am Oct 16th, 2017

So I just finished watching the movie, and these are the random things that stuck with me. I should probably do a proper review, but I have to work early tomorrow. I'll probably just comment on Present Perfects blog since he'll be doing a better job than I ever could at reviewing this.

I'm not sure about this art style. They look really, really round with the shading. I like the eye highlights though. And the cheeks work. I think this is growing on me, but it has lost some of the charm from the show. It's probably just >different. I would be a bit disappointed if they moved to these models for the show, I think, but I'd probably get over it.

>Wut U talkin' about?

The smile is terrifying, Twilight. never do that again

>But wait, there's more!
Luna looks like she's already had enough of your shit, Sparkle.

>raised-inna-barn
This is amazing. It's like they took Rainbow Dash and distilled her entire character down into a single friendly jibe at Applejack.

>Cloven-hoofed being an insult

Dash's fucking song. Holy shit Rainbow.
Then the water spraying on Twi. Fuck you, Imma sing my song.
And then Rainbow dashes it up again with a gigantic signal flare.

>i simply can not even
Rarity makes the best noises

Dash just flying underwater. No fucks given <3
Applejack's hat just floating above her head underwater. no fucks given

>without friends like you
Holy fucking shit, Twilight. Who pissed in your friendship-o's this morning?

>Don't get too excite. He's talking about us
Way to be genre aware, Applejack.

>I failed friendship
Fuck yeah you did. I mean, shit. PP was right, this was pretty terrible and even being under stress doesn't really make me think it's Twilight talking. One of the worse character breaking moments

>Flamethrower Spike.
They did it, guys! They made Spike useful!

Between this guy, Twilight's hilarious moment at raising the sun, and Discord, all the other nations in this world have got to be fucking mystified by the sun of late. Newton's Laws of Motion? WTF? Should we sacrifice another batch of turnips?

Best movie review I've seen so far.

At the start, the burn fluttershy gives to pinky. That was savage as hell. :trollestia:

Other thing to note with flamethrower spike.
A storm guard runs away fully engulfed then flops over, the fire literally engulfing him.

MLP had actual on screen deaths.

Other thing to remember, Twilight apparently forgot she was the element of magic. + magical hippogriff macguffin did nothing in the end!

It's like watching a megaman game where all the power ups have been removed!

Somewhere on the other side of the planet there is a sun worshipping civilization that is preparing for a war on just absolutely everybody.

I had forgotten about that "raised in a barn" joke, thanks for the reminder.

I'll try to do a real review at some point. Didn't want plot spoilers. And I had literally just finished the movie, then headed into a D&D game.

4699418
I'll watch for that on a rewatch.

4699442
Yeah. It was a bit more violent than the show tends to get.

The Pinkie Pie cupcake execution scene. The first one looks exactly like an artfully avoided on screen headshot <.<

I play a game with Twilight. Replace all instances of Magic with Friendship and vice versa. No one ever calls me on Element of Friendship or Princess of Magic. But, with season 5, I'm not sure I can put too much stock in her actual magic powers anymore. Glimmer seems to outclass her. I'm glad she wasn't in the movie :V

The pearl being unimportant to the plot is good. But we know Twilight can do transformation magic on her own. And Rainbow would have loved the chance to be a gryphon.

4699449
Some one is getting scolded because their sun-dance is obviously flawed :< :< :<

And omfg the raised inna barn joke is the best. The progression, the look of worry, Rainbow Ass. Yeah, kudos to whoever added that.

4699454
to quote them:
At the first part of the movie, preparing the festival. When pinkies ballon goes out of control.
Pinkie: "Watch out, out of control baloon!"
Fluttershy: "I dont think its the ballon thats out of control Pinkie Pie"

xD All that with a smile.

4699460
Pfft.

Yeah. The opening scene was fun. I want some more of that, please.

4699454
True true, but if they needed help against the so called army, its odd how the world of Equestria seems to just be Canterlot, then the rest of the world. No dragons to help, no changelings.

Also Starlight was there with Trixie, and again during the credits, it is a oddly disjointed film, cute for kids, confusing when you get older and stick more with wanting consistency (how ever little there might be) XD

4699454
You certainly can if you want to, but I wasn't kidding, this was the best. I don't mind taking my pones seriously when I write about them, but when it comes to the actual show, the comedy is what's really important. Nit picking the little details really doesn't work simply because of their target audience.

4699466
As you can tell by simply reading Moonless, I R the most SRS PONE

4699499
Truly. No one can out srs you when it comes to pones.

4699454

We cannot has Dashburd because Pinkie would melt.

4699877
I was pretty certain that Twilight didn't want Pinkie to set Equestria on fire with the speed of her furious humping :3

Fuck yeah you did. I mean, shit. PP was right, this was pretty terrible and even being under stress doesn't really make me think it's Twilight talking. One of the worse character breaking moments

Okay. I finally watched it. Everyone is insane.

That was completely in character for Twilight "Let's make a friendship problem to solve and let's rebuild the town before Celestia notices I must carry the entire world on my shoulders or I'm a failure" Sparkle.

4701191
I disagree (obviously.) It would have worked for S2 Twilight, but she's not S2 Twilight anymore. Sure, she's still high strung, but I, at least, feel like she's fully internalized the fact her friends are basically the most important thing in her life.

4701300
Except now she's carrying the weight of a literal nation, and it was her responsibility alone.

And frankly? You never really overcome that kind of issue. Ever.

4701315
Except when she totally did exactly that in the Season 4 finale where she chose to save her friends by giving Tirek all of the Alicorn's magic, despite said magic being the only thing capable of keeping him from destroying Equestria.

4702248
Which only proves my point that Twilight will do incredibly stupid things when confronted with danger to people she cares about.

4702300
Yeah, but it's the kind of incredibly stupid things she does that the issue. 4702248 's example has her doing something dumb *for friendship*. The movie has her doing something both dumb and unwarranted because *she* failed. Sure, Twi'll panic and obsess and get stuck on failures, but to figuratively shit on her entire group of friends because she messed up? Nah. It hasn't fit her for a few seasons now.

Another thought: since when does Twilight blame others for her failures instead of taking on way more blame and responsibility than she should?

4702302
She doesn't necessarily blame her friends for her failures, she just got angry and yelled at them.

Are we actually talking about her yelling at Pinkie Pie? Because I'm just talking about stealing the pearl.

Anyone can get mad and say something mean once. That's not character breaking, that's just humanity.

4702300
Twilight does stupid stuff when she's unhinged; as in disheveled, twitchy, and other characters notice she's off. She was sober both against Tirek and in the movie, so it makes no sense that she would choose such diametrically opposed actions in such similar situations. In one she chooses her friends over her immense magical power, Equestria be damned. In the other she uses her friends to get immense magical power, to save Equestria.

As an aside, I give even less credence to the movie given Twilight's complete lack of teleportation. In the show she teleports around foes like NMM to reach her real goal or get a tactical advantage, she teleports her whole party to get away from dragons and disguised bears, she even teleports to move around inside rooms just so she doesn't have to walk. Not once in the movie, not even an attempt like vs Sombra's trap.

4702327
Well, in the show she can also transform her friends into other things. So why does she need the mcguffin :P
